Who would help a brother out?
February 10, 2009 11:17PM
Say I was wanting to pick up a nice rust free 240 from the west coast. Anybody able to help ie: check the car out, buy it for me then I'd go for a nice 5 day drive and come get it?
I think I could get used to RWD on dirt ( I've driven and loved lots of RWD street cars and I plan on never running any winter rallies).

I've got a Volvo 240 sitting here that needs another home. Straight car. No side windows or seats.

I've robbed the fuel pump outta it and did not put a transmission back in.

I've conveniently got a hotrod turbo motor with JVAB pistons and rods that could find it's way into the trunk or into the engine bay were I to be suitably encouraged to do so.

All it takes is money.... how fast you wanna go?

Car is free if you take some other ish to go with that is not free.

Oh.... I also have programmable EMS that is in the Hornetkar that could be transplanted. Electromotive TECIII goodie.

Oh.... I also have a T-5 that could go in there were I to be suitably encouraged to do so. It needs freshening. Crunches into second or third.

Suitably encouraged I could also weld up the rear end for ya.

Yeah, I'd say so.
THIS is a 240 worth driving and which with it'ssimple, study, well balanced chassis, and very low purchase price, is the only 240 worth considering:

Look here's a local sick-o:

These 240s cost too much

These 240s are too slow and heavy:

Sorry for the confusion. Yes any 240 I'm talking about for rally rymes with VOLVO. Mr Lane you've got me all giddy. You've kinda been my inspiration with all that overall win bussiness although it likely has more to do with your driving skills than the car. That $100,000 Subaru in the garage is tentatively SOLD!!!!

David,

Mr. Lane's car is the way to go. I would take him up on that offer.

Robert.

Good on ya for selling expensive scoob to finance fun rear-drive madness.

Me as fancy-driving skilz.... Thanks, but you'd have to drive the car and then of course we are all thankful that we've no 'talent' from the other side of the pond to compare with!!

I'd sure be delighted iffin' I could talk one of them manufacturer-types into supporting my rallying habit. Lord knows that our need for rallying makes other addictions pale by comparison.

Sooooo how do we get you signed up to take a certain '78 Volvo parked out back with a plethora of fun goodies fitted for your motoring pleasure?

You know.... I'm aware of this feller who has been known to build rollcages.... He put one into my Volvo many moons ago. I'd bet that were a feller to whisper into his ear real nice that he may be able to be convinced of the merits of doing another.... Perhaps somewhat similar to what is in my car that is tested tough.

Hmmmmmm......

John's car has been rolled 5 times and it's winning rallies overall now... Yeah, I'd say Volvos are sturdy...

1. Everythings for sale for a price isn't it?

2. The Subaru is such a slippery slope. Although there are people who have the mindset to prepare such a car cheaply and properly I have little self control. The line which divides needs and wants is blurry to me. I'm working on that though.

3. I think I'd go just as fast in a Volvo.

But...... my car is not sold yet otherwise John Lane/Dave Clark and John V would have to go check they're paypal accounts.

I STILL don't know how to post pics. While the rest of my generation was getting computer savvy I was just getting high.
