Okay so Lurch is hammering the insurance companies. They deserve it, however
they don't make the rules. It's the fucking lawyers!!!!!!!!!!!!! (in congress, in insurance companies, in courts, etc). The lawyers are lower than fucking pond scum! Sure, there might be a good guy here and there, but the majority of these assholes should be lined up and shot if they won't quit their disgusting profession and become responsible human beings. Lawyers suck! |

I say there's three or so professions which as Comrade Burmeister pointed out have ZERO personal repercussions for even gross negligence or plain dumb-as-a=brick stupidity: Lawyers, Insurance people, doctors, and money "managers", and "executives". They ALL point at the others with both hands saying "it's AL:L their fault!!!" But win a case or loose, you pay the lawyer; die or get better, you still pay the doctor; covered or not the Insurance scum will try and wriggle out; make money on an investment or loose everything, you still pay your brokers or "advisers". They have their offices in the same areas, they socialize with each other, they are a different social class. Maybe Marx and Engles were right, maybe it is class against class. A lifetime of observing and I become more convinced that is the case. > > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Jens,
I really think that we need to look at our selves, our culture and our laws before we blame the lawyers. In this day and age if Joe Blow trips and falls in the supermarket it is entirely possible that he could get a six figure settlement. With that type of incentive you can hardly blame Joe Blow. Nobody stands up and says Joe don't blame the store for you own clumsiness. The lawyers are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. The supermarket is going to settle for six figures because they don't want to risk a judgment for seven figures. In the end we need legislative tort reform and to stop the "helpless victim" mentality of our culture. Robert. Robert. "You are way too normal to be on Rally Anarchy." Eddie Fiorelli. |

Doctors and hospitals get sued for negligence (aka malpractice) all of the time. People don't pay doctors all of the time. Executives are frequently targeted in investor lawsuits. Robert's point is half right. But what if Joe Blow slipped and fell because the supermarket could be bothered to fix a freezer and it was leaking water on the floor and Joe lost the ability to work for a few weeks. Should the supermarket just have to pay Joe's actual expenses (medical and loss of pay) relating to the injury? What if the supermarket ran the numbers and determined that, on average, it was cheaper to not maintain things properly and not pay staff to mop up water and instead let the water leak, understanding that occasionally they would have to pay for someone's medical and loss of pay? It is only a problem if you happen to be Joe, right? |

"2. They make the all the laws/rules."
The legal profession may write the legislation, but it doesn't become "law" until it's passed by congress. Jens you should really read the US Constitution : "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives." You can further educate yourself here on how the country YOU live in works : http://thomas.loc.gov/home/lawsmade.toc.html |

Yeah? Ya dun't slay? Never heard of that!!! I have heard many times with my own ears doctors simpering and snivelling about how much insurance premiums they have to pay (and I have heard the whining and simpering about what school debts they have too, whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Some meanie forced them to become doctors, pooor things!) Are Doctors loosing their cars and homes because of these lawsuits? People don't pay > doctors all of the time. Because they have been able to work with the insurance and legal parasites and maintain the ol' supply and demand for doctors and thus maintain their prices at insane levels---that supply and demand thing is tacitly conceded by anybody in any of these businesses. > > Executives are frequently targeted in investor > lawsuits. Good choice of words, parsing them carefully Alan. "Targeted" yeah but how many loose their homes (and i meant plural) and their cars? > > Robert's point is half right. About 1/3 of the members of congress list their profession (or professional experience) as attorney or lawyer according to congressmerge.com.
Another dozen or so list as doctor or physician. Nobody is listed under health care. Two are listed as accountant, another 94 or so list themselves as having business experience. Seventeen list real estate, four list construction, nobody lists welder or machinist. Senator Dick Lugar lists manufacturing in his business experience. Rep. Todd Tiahrt of Kansas lists industry. There are 64 hits for Army, 14 for Navy, 12 for Air Force, two Marines (seven "marine" ![]() Three police. OK, I'll stop now. Lawyers might not be in the majority of Congress, but they sure have a big chunk. Andrew Steere Lyndeborough, NH KB1PJY |
