I've competed in an average of 4.25/year since my first event. (which was the last event that year)
That's about 4.6/year since my first full season and 2003 was a one event year for me as a competotor. The number changes somewhat if you look at the number of events 'participated in' (IE organised) or attended. Over the past decade, probably crewed or worked an average of three per year. I don't think I've ever gone to a rally to just spectate.
In recent years... 2007 I was low rent service crew (I can change a Subaru gearbox in 14 hours  ) at four Canadian Nationals and two Rally America events.
