The back end of my 240 squatted down quite a bit until I replaced the soft SAM springs with 240 overload springs in the rear to match the stiffer coilovers up front. > Do you know what it has for a drivetrain? He has Group H tags in his Youtube videos, which is (I believe) a regional historic class. I'll make a wild guess that he's running a Kent Karlsson B230 Evo rallycross motor (I can't listen to this at work, so I didn't hear the audio) mated to that sequential in the on-board, which may be an Xtrac, which happens to be a Scandinavian supplier of racing trans. There was another white GrH 240 on Youtube last year that I seem to recall seeing those same specs on, so that would make sense. The trans has a drop gear, so you can change the gearing on it pretty easily (ie. rev at 7000 rpm in 5th gear at 65mph if you want). Cheers. ...Brian... |

Historic is called "Historic" probably H for "Hemma" of 'home' 2wd Normal aspirated, 8v I'll > make a wild guess that he's running a Kent > Karlsson B230 Evo rallycross motor (I can't listen > to this at work, so I didn't hear the audio) Can't use rallycross stuff in rally cars, it's more restrictive, they are trying to have some sensible lid on wasteful extravagance. mated > to that sequential in the on-board, which may be > an Xtrac, which happens to be a Scandinavian > supplier of racing trans. Xtrak is in Woking in Surrey, last time they were Scandinavian was when the Angles overran the place. Could be a Sellhom. Like I said it was a wild guess. But go here (Flash, so bear with the instructions): http://www.pmotorsport.se/flash/main_v8.swf Click on the "Historic Rally Cars" at the top and select Volvo 242 - 75. Check out the specs. Former Gr.H and Kent motor, though not an Evo. Probably an SF Pyora M45 dogbox mated to that motor (lots of other SAM stuff on it, so why not?) Here are some more cool pics: http://gallery.pmotorsport.se/#9.11 Also check out the Amazons on the main Flash page. > Xtrak is in Woking in Surrey, last time they were > Scandinavian was when the Angles overran the > place. > > Could be a Sellhom. Who is the group who's main business is boring machines (think the thing that built the Chunnel), but who happened to make race sequentials as an "afterthought" because they happened to have the manufacturing equipment and right hardened metals laying around? Thought it was Xtrak. Whoever they are, that's what Malik's got in his 240. Too rich for my blood, so I never really worried about it. ...Brian... |
