Cooler train??? Nice.
Grant! You got video of the Races at the inn!!! Good work! By far, the best night in Aberdeen I've ever had. And one more reason Matt Johnson is really cool, those are HIS swings bikes. He brought them. Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

Nice to see that your fabrication skills extend beyond the machine shop. I joined because of what looked to be a promising discussion on pace notes that you pulled into the trash by suggesting to Sean that I was taking a swing at him when I wasn't. Once we decided to dismiss your ill-informed and ill-intentioned interference the discussion became civil again. > Now, if I'm not mistaken, you're old and fat and > bald ... All descriptions that are, somewhat, subjective and relative. 45, 6'0, 225lbs, 38" waist, (A tight fit into a sparco pro 2000 seat but I could use one all day long,) hairline is well behind the ears ... none of which really say anything about who I am or what I do. > but you certainly try and act like 20 somethings so just possibly I can imagine > that you actually are impressed by some guys fucking with > some stupid wacky bicycle. Once again you're showing a complete lack of understanding of who I am. I'm not sure what you mean by saying I act like a '20 something' ... and as far as being impressed by the guys having fun on a swing bike ... that's not how I would describe my reaction. They were having fun ... seeing other people having fun doesn't really bother me. > Now I don't regard you as an honest or trustworthy > person due to slimy backhanded comments regarding > me you have made on Special Stage during the time > I was banned there... BS John. The closest thing to calling you out was changing the 'quote from" tag to VanlandingSpam. When people have asked be about what you have to offer I tend to say that you appear to have a good knowledge base, a good skill set but that I have never had a reason to do business with you and I recommend that they talk with others that have done business with you before proceeding. This is just as I would say for Rocket, Cascade, 4Star, VTCar etc. > As such, even talking to you is not without some > distaste on my part. Actually makes me feel just a bit better knowing that ... :-) > DO YOU REALLY EXPECT US TO BELIEVE YOU GIVE A SHIT > ABOUT THE ANTICS OF THESE GUYS? No, cause I don't really. But neither do I think that sharing pix of ralliests having fun during a regroup is someting that should be called out. >... of the few so-called "Top" drivers. You know that as well. so-called is a bit misdirected. Pastrana, Block (who apparently has a MKII escort on the way), Foust, ACP, Johnson, Mirra ARE at the thin edge of the wedge (along with Richard and L'estage) in the context of North America. Would they get their asses handed to them on the world stage, almost certainly but no where near as badly as three or four years ago. From personal interaction with them I can tell you that Block, Johnson, Foust and ACP are ALL nice, down to earth and genuine people. (as are Richard, L'Estage and most of the rest of the ralliests I've competed with.) (I haven't dealt directly with Pastrana or Mirra but they seem to be pretty genuine people from what I have seen) > So why argue about the pointlessness of nonsense like this here? Exactly - why are you trolling by slamming anyone for posting anything on the fourm? > Or is it just that you are feigning "interest" so that you can argue about something. If anything - it was a reaction to your self-important bullying and arrogant attitude. Quite frankly, your actions make you deserving of some time in the Sin Bin, but I won't hold my breath for that. > And really, are you equally "interested" in if > some middle of the pack guy brings say some > teddy-bear or some other toy or plaything to a > rally? Yah, I would be equally interested ... mostly because I wasn't horribly interested in the swing bikes in the first place. But I would think that more pix of people having fun would always be welcome. We had a reverse the steering bicycle in college. Second steer tube welded in front of the stock one where you move the handlebars to and a set of spur gears to link it to the fork. It's even easier to build for roughly the same effect. I could never even ride the damn thing but it was entertaining to watch drunk people on. |

Alan,
"Most rally people do silly stuff when they are stuck waiting. If a service crew had that swing bike in the service area, I am sure that it could have gone down in service area lore like the wheelchair and potato guns." I am ALL ABOUT having fun, but if an employee is doing something that jeopardizes the successful completion of the job, I call that stupid. Press release: Travis Pastrana DNFs Olympus rally because of broken wrist suffered while swing bike riding in service area. Now if one of us podunk regional guys were to crack our heads open doing the same thing it would still be stupid but also funny! Robert. Robert. "You are way too normal to be on Rally Anarchy." Travis on the swing bike is far less risky (thus less stupid) than much of the other stuff that he does while representing SRT USA in a championship. Jumping out of a plane without a parachute? Base-jumping into the Grand Canyon? The double back flip? As I said, Travis is an adult. He is also an expert in throwing away results by doing something stupid. Besides, since Travis probably brings a significant portion of the sponsorship to the team, he probably has some freedom to screw up. alan |

Well, I was there too, and I'm pretty damn sure they weren't riding the bikes for a photo op or to impress kids. They were riding them because they're all a bunch of overgrown kids who like playing with wheeled toys, and someone had some wheeled toys to play with.

He's a cool kid, and autocross is fun, and some people do take it very seriously, but imo taking it seriously doesn't make it serious racing. But who knows, maybe it is. I'll be at one this coming Sunday if my brother finishes putting his car back together. |

It was hilarious to the giant crowd there, I could put MORE pictures up showing it, if anyone needs proof haha.
Its people having fun- big deal. It's fun to see people who are REALLY good at operating two wheeled objects having troubles operating two wheeled objects... I'm still not sure why John thinks I'm a troll. He seems to be the only one who has a problem with me... Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |
