Couple videos that I found exciting.

Heres some group F:

Badass Naturally Aspired rally cars:

Gotta love the quick steering, high revs, close gears and a 4.XX or 5.XX ring gear!

EDIT : OK last one!
Fast forward to 3:30 in. Violent In-car roll!

Wow, that roll was harsh.

It's cool seeing all the Corollas and BMW's ralling

Ha! Seriously though, the in car with the roll at the end is an Opel Ascona.

Speaking of Opels....are you making any progress with that dust collector of yours?

I got 'er Meh right here buddy!!

Dave how did the supra mk4 rally car go back in the day?

The reason why I ask is because the rally bug has already bitten but now he's starting to burrow in and make a permanent home. I was planning from the beginning to build this GTX that I have, but now after learning from you guys here I'm shying away from that idea due to the tranny, limited wheel travel, and the turbo restrictor.

I was thinking of rallying the Lexus Sc400. Which is the same car essentially as the MK4 supra. The v8 engine is all aluminum and lighter than the turbo 6. It has aluminum knuckles, large double roller wheel bearings, 4 link IRS rear end. 4.27 r&p, 5 speed swaps are a plenty now, gutted they weigh 3300 lbs, and have a 105" wheel base.
The big downside is the steering needs a complete revamp.

Basically the car has a lot of plusses from the get go, the price of suspension and a cage will be the same if not very close to that of a Mazda. In the end the bigger RWD car seems like it would be more fun and have more potential for growth and development.

Should I put the crack pipe down or am I onto something?

Kinda heavy but yeah, you're onto something. I wanna put that engine in a corolla or something and laugh myself silly. Clarkkonnen can take care of your gtx as far as your wheeltravel concerns go, but the trans and sodastraw are very valid reasons to build something else, said the sodastrawed mazdog driver...

GTXs are the most awesome rally cars. However, it is hard to make them competitive in any class these days without spending crazy money. Damn Subarus!

What I want to know is why we don't see more BMW rally cars in the US. There are lots of inexpensive E30s available.

Yes, the dust is now 3/4 of an inch thick, a new record!

Umm, progress is slow and sporadic but I work on it here and there.

Now if JV would get done with my engine, that would be some progress! (Hint, hint.)

Step away from the crack pipe...

For the money you would put into that you would be better off with an E36 BMW.
The Supra was actually a pretty good handling car for it's size and weight and was reasonably quick even with the NA motor. But there are better choices. Ralph ran that because he got it for free. If they had given him a Celica All-Trac he would have run that.

But who am I to judge the desire to build an unusual rally car? I bet you guys can't even guess the latest thing I want to do (but don't have anywhere near the time or money to do, haha.) It would be a Group 5 car...

Don't be stupid, I'm only accepting serious guesses...
