When it's 9th biggest forum in the world and it doesn't even have a topic to start with... I can see that it would get very annoying. :|

it actually started out as a sub forum at HA.net (honda acura) and got so popular that the HAnet owner was getting pissed off, so the moderator for it broke it off and created it as it's own board

for as fucked up as the place is, I've met and made a lot of very good and long term friends there, been to texas multiple times for national meets, gotten to know a lot of really cool people in the seattle area and always make myself available to hang out with (or offer a place to stay) for those who come here for whatever reason from out of state (one guy comes out for work every two years, and each time he's here I take him somewhere new and beautiful in the state for him to take pics, this year he's bringing his wife and they want to move here from MI)

On another note....

HA! for a reference of how "important" rally is, especially US rally, , the smallest online bulletin board on the "big board" list is ranked 2210 biggest.

That board has twice the posts and 10 times the users of ss.com.

The kicker? It's a whole board just for the "Dance Dance Revolution" game.

ahhhh, wow. smiling smiley

Rabin,

I think that you are over reacting. I support free and open communications but the threads in question were really nasty. Those posts did not have anything to contribute. I am happy to see them deleated.

As far as I know Skye is the main man. John doesn't have anything to do with the administration of the site. He just lives hear!

The whole concept of anarchy is a joke in my opinion. There are very few people in the world that can handle real anarchy. Regulation is a natural human tendency. I have been to some places in the world that would qualify as being anarchic. Even there, people begin to make and enforce there own rules. Humans seek to make order.

One year when I was particularily broke in Vegas I played Dance Dance Revolution instead of gambling. Way more fun and cheaper than slots, which I despise.

This year I was sitting at the $5 blackjack table and saw a friend at a different table so went and joined him. Turned out it was a $25 table so I pulled out a hundred and was like, let's see what happens. When I left the table an hour of so later I had like $400. It was awesome. Then I met Raelene and we played until 7 am. The pit boss kept coming and trying to give me free breakfast coupons. I told him no thanks but when he was ready to give me a suite for the remaining couple of hours to come talk to me. We turned $100 into $700 that night, then went back to her room and I still feel a little bad for the friends that were sleeping there. Nothing like waking up naked surrounded by people you don't know, with a dead cell phone, no hotel room key, and your flight leaves in 45 minutes. Luckily I was off and my flight didn't leave for 2 hours and I still barely made it.

Man, WTF were we talking about. I really liked France and the french when I was there. I got really anti-French when we were in India. We were staying in an area called Auroville outside of Pondicherri which has this big western commune bullshit up in the hills and we kept seeing all these French folk (Pondicherri was a French colony) and they all really really sucked! I really enjoyed my Renault Clio when I was driving around France though.

It was a long time - but you tell stories. A LOT of stories.

You're mis stating the conversation for your own gain. It's not exactly the truth, just your perception. I disagreed with it - but I've got my own perceptions as well of the call.

Yup - that was the subject of a lot of our conversation. I really enjoyed it as well, as it was a great conversation. How it morphed into "hours" of ME talking to YOU about my car I don't know.

You like to word and interpret things to your benefit despite the meaning and intent. We can go back and forth and it won't go anywhere.

Still don't get the point of it. You're mocking my build time (which you made up for humour I imagine) - but how that would make my online persona an asshole doesn't make sense.

I've decided that the stock suspension is fine without coil overs, and with Volvo 240 front springs and MB 190 rear springs there's no need for anything custom for now. I can focus on the BMW 5x120 bolt pattern to get rid of the 4x140 pattern on my car to open up wheel options, as well as use BMW brake disks (302x28 front, 300x22 rear), and then mount the 01' Boxster calipers (same as the 996) to finish it off. I'll sort the brakes and wheels out with a functional car and then re-evaluate the suspension after I make all my changes due to the changes in unsprung weight, and I know what the car handles like on much wider rubber.

Yes - all parts are done, machining is done (to my design spec), just need to assemble now. It's pretty damn trick actually.

Well - not sure what else to call it if it never happened that way. Chaulk it up to differences then - and the truth is in the middle somewhere.

When I called you, I wasn't about to start telling you what I wanted, I wanted to see what you could do and what you suggested. I think you have a tremendous talent for building very cool stuff. I already knew what was successful, but wanted to compare that to what you suggested. There was never any confusion - I was just LISTENING. Like I mentioned - I was hoping for a coil over kit specific to my strut. When I disagreed about needing Bilsteins - that seemed to me an afront to your knowledge and it went down hill from there.

Again - nothing to do with what they say at all. I work in customer service in IT, so I know unhappy customers, and I know there's always two sides. It's your responses to them that give me pause.

Yep - you're a VERY generous guy to some, and that's one of the reasons you have good friends.

I used to like watching the news just to hear my name when I was little. smiling smiley Rabin isn't common for an Indian (From India) but born in Canada. Rabindranath Tagore the poet is my namesake.

I won't respond with specific people in mind as per requested.

Actually - that's pretty universal so I did get it. I'm not sure you do though to though since you justify your actions. (And they don't come off as justified to the casual reader)

Absolutely correct. Better to just leave it at that then to go on the offensive. When you go after them online - it only harms the impression I have of you since I don't know you. (Speaking for myself there)

Your examples of going above and beyond for good customers are also well established. I've never doubted that, and it seems like you are totally missing the point of my dicussion with you.

There's wiping poo off your face, and then there's water bombing them back with poo filled water bombers at every chance.

Exactly - that's why I was trying to make it as easy as possible instead of sending you parts just to evaluate. Seemed easier to have someone drop it off for you to check out. In the end I recently found a guy that FINALLY has your skill level locally that didn't go cross eyed when I told him what I wanted. He worked his magic, used my design and made it better with his experience as a machinist. Guys like that (like you) are gold for people like me that have the skill set to do it, but no tools / machines to do it. You take what we know can be done and do it. (I've trained in all matter of machining, even C&C programming years ago, as well as all matter of welding courses as well.)

> Why is that, and why is it important?

Seriously? You have no accountability for your actions - it's your sandbox.

> He was helping you 3-4 years ago, eh?
> Have you built your suspension yet?
> How much help do you need?

Still in contact with him actually. With an invite to rally his 504 sedan if I ever get the chance to get there for a rally. I explained above that suspension is sorted for the time being. Too many changes to the recipe already with brakes and the wheel upgrade, and I needed to baseline the car before doing the suspension.

Grant - I remember your brake issues, but you fall into the respected category so there was still some respect in the responses. Sure he busted your balls - but ended well. It's the other more "water bomber filled with poo" responses that give someone like me pause when trying to get a handle on John.

I don't have a personal beef with you JVL - just trying to express why it is that felt that RA had taken a down turn with a number of tangents along the way. I REALLY like this site, and the info and people on it are second to none in my mind, and at the core this site is still like that. Sadly it's the petty little shit that does the most damage.

You are full of shit, you are remarkably proud of your ignorance.

That is based on actual contact and specifically you telling ME or ANYBODY to get off your threads. Or more in general YOU TELLING ANYBODY to DO anything.

I can strongly suggest things but I cannot say "DO IT" and after a little contact with you realizing that you are pretty much the arch-typical Eastside like boy living at home with Mommy and Daddy who has never been told no to anything, I realize there is no point in TRYING to tell you to do things. I can merely suggest.

Oddly amongst adults like Kevin or Robert or Skye or Scott, or....

Quit your fucking whining, you sound like a whiney girl.
People wouldn't be using you as an an example of what a terrible person I am if you weren't complaining to people that I was so bad to you.
Bring your goddam knuckles over so I can fix your problem and then you have no reason to complain about THAT.

You can hate me Tim but don't say I'm not willing to fix shit and make things right.

I've always said "You can hate me for what I really am and I'll have no argument, but hate me for what you think I am 9or do or won't do) and I'll fight that tooth and nail.

John, get over yourself. I'm not bring my knuckles over for you to mess with. It's over and done with. Stop bringing them up. YOU have brought them up more in the last week then I haven since I picked them up.

YOU blow everything out of proportion. YOU started harassing me. YOU are the reason everyone uses me as an example.

And unlike morten, I do not want to bury the hatchet, I want you to get to a mutual point of deeming each other a fuck head like you and richardM have, so you shut the hell up about me when ever you feel you should start slandering. But you wont, and you'll reply with a huge post of how I'm a terrible person and live at home and dont respect anything. Whatever.

I've stopped caring what you think, I now just find it obnoxious im brought up as ammo against you. Remember your persona thing? As a person, you seem to be a decent guy, although very highly opinionated. Online, you are a truth bending, over exaggerating prick who will do everything in your power to make ANYTHING against who ever you dont like, while still having some form of self hype weaved in for your products. It's remarkable, really.

I'm still in awe of the fact that you claim your so busy, but you have time to make these ludicrously long posts, especially the assaults against me that have no quoted information in them. Maybe you've got a time machine?

In hindsight I should have deleted my original post faster - it's not worth the effort. Perceptions are what they are though - and I was trying to explain what comes across online.

Since JVL responded I was obliged to reply.

You guys have it much easier down there since you can have personal contact. SO much is lost online - but trying to convey that appearance is still detrimental was my point.

I'll only respond if responded too.
