also, one of the things I found funny (I'm guessing we are speaking of the same thing mostly) was how everyone jumped in together and actually all agreed on something

watching everyone be united was something I didn't ever think I'd see here and now it's gone

It's not ironic, it's fucked but you just saw what potential shit can be caused by just one or 2 bad apples for not just me but for the owner and host of this place.

Serious time wasting and potentially serious shit.

You pay your rent however you pay your rent, and I do what I do, and neither has time to fight people whose only intent is to cause problems.

And there were only maybe 5 people, 3 really serious, who it is obvious who only want to attack me, and whose posts were nearly all attacks.

Over 4 years without a single intervention might just be an intra-webz record, but that last shit was way out of line and it pretty much was in violation of the 2 simple rules we have: 1) a real name and a real location 2) no lies attacking a person with malicious intent, or which aren't at least funny.

Keep your shirt on Grant, I've talked to Skye and he was sickened by the whole mess and said he didn't want to do anything, but when an guy is threatening my actual livelihood and truly slandering me, and if you want to talk about ironic, saying I won't make stuff right for paying customers on a day I was just out to UPS 3 Daying back to Vittorio Barres his rebuilt struts with new bushes to replace the originals, a new tube, and lending him 2 new 50mm inserts till I can replace his damaged units, all at no charge (since he's a good paying customer and is will to pick up the phone and talk about what he did, what I did and ask how we can fix things---and who was flummoxed when I told him no charge, WARANTY), and when i've sent out new bushiungs and made an installing tool and a ball hone to guys in Ontario 9cause the problems of sending stuff back and forth to Canada--it was easier and cheaper to just send the tools directly), well grant that's irony.

What would you do Grant if some guy who has no dealings ever with you out of the clear blue says he's going to call the IRS and the FBI and Dick Cheney and tell them to investigate you and put you out of work and maybe in jail?

Come on this isn't just the fuckin Intra-webs.

I was just thinking the same thing...

I was going to post asking if anyone knew of a good rally site one could go too now that this one has lost all credibility.

Where did all the cool build ideas and the helpful suggestions on how to do stuff? I'm about to assemble and document a brake and hub upgrade I've been working on for years that *may* have been of interest to the 240 Volvo folks here - but now I don't really wanna bother.

I also thought of changing my user credentials to Random Canadian and sharing the login - but figured BIG BROTHER would just delete me.

Sad really - it use to be a damn cool site but has gone to complete shit for the most part these last few months.

Damn shame really.

All the good information is still there. Nothing of any use to anybody but other troublemakers was deleted.

You exaggerate things fairly astronomically.

And maybe you could suggest what specifically has changed so drastically?

I think things are cyclical and maybe up there on the windswept wastelands of Canada, things are all hunk-dory, but there's a lot of worry and uncertainty in most of the people I talk to all around the country.
People are worried not just about driving and building their cars but about keeping their jobs and homes, people are snarly when their jobs and homes are at stake.

EVERY forum I peek at, the 2 Xratty sites, the Volvo site, this one, the other 2, all have seen a huge drop off of talk on building projects and activity.
People are worried, and car toys are a "discretionary expenditure". And mooded street and rally cars are deffo "discretionary".



I'll ask you exactly what I asked Grant, a friend, what would want done if some anonymous person came here and threatened to call Revenue Canada, the FBI, MI5 etc and dig up everything about you just to cause problems?

I'd probably try to find out their email address and flood them with web registrations to anything and everything.
I'd also sign them up for lots of magazines if I could find their home address.
I'd also post fake car ads on craigslist with their real email address on it for the bots to find.

I was mostly talking about the delay for registration. I have no feeling of loss for the two that were deleted. I'll admit, I over-reacted. Forum seemed dead and I was like, what did Skye delete everyone. Once I looked around and saw that it wasn't wide spread I realized that.
I still haven't been able to get on the US Starlet forum, I assume due to a bad email or busy or non-caring adminstrator, which has to approve your account before you can even see the forum.

I saw a headline the other day, "Only 579,000 laid off in April" Only!?!?! That's over half a million people, not to mention their significant others and children, etc. I was looking at pictures of south asia tsunami results and pictures of the orphanages of all the children who lost their parents. There are waymore important things in this world.

I subscribe to the internet protocol of 'if you don't like it, don't read it'. Its not like we're sitting at a nice restaurant and some loudmouth jackass just walked up and started blowing ciggy smoke in yer face.

I skimmed that one thread for laughs...said my .02 and intended to never look at it again. so I don't really care that it got deleted.

My opinion on the situation? I'll keep that to myself. This is skye's and JVL's forum, and I'll go with whatever they do. If they do something I really don't like...then I'll just stop coming, plain and simple.



In the meantime, I'm still here. still learning. not sure if I'm contributing anything yet, but oh well.

this made me think of a wild west tech inspection where the driver was getting all upset because they were checking out things on the car to make sure they were in complience

one of the tech people kept telling the driver to calm down and that it's routine and if the driver truly hadn't done anything wrong then why worry over it at all

and the driver kept saying "but" this and "but" that in defense that nothing was wrong so why did it need to be checked, etc

so of course tech took longer because the driver just wouldn't shut up and move away from the car and let the tech people do their work



no, in this case, different, because it would be someone pulling in someone else from another source, which isn't cool

however, deleting their account and their thread won't suddenly make them change their mind about doing it if they'd already made their minds up

no, it wasn't cool, we all knew that and clearly everyone jumped in and said so, although I think it might have been better if more of the people who jumped in simply had said "it's the internet, people are bitching but on the whole we all still get along and there is no need to do that, if there were it'd have been done a long time ago by the parties involved
