Rally Anarchy Stage Crew and Banners
June 04, 2009 04:45PM
After not getting Union Heavy Equipment work out here on the windy plains, The Anti- Cristy and I are headed out west to be among more Real Crazies and friends. We volunteered to work Rally Idaho and are toying with the idea of creating a Rally Anarchy Stage Crew. There is not enough time to train and field a complete stage crew for Rally Idaho but...... Once we get up to Washington State in late July/early August we will be contacting Rallymech Robert and getting the ball rolling. I asked Skye if we could use the Rally Anarchy Logo for stage banners and he said to ask the members. So... Do you think we should have Rally Anarchy banners? Just like the logo at the top of the page. One or the stage start, one for the spectator area, one for finish and another for a media appropriate area, like service or the finish banquet. We would like to show the Rally community that we are willing to contribute to the sport when we are not running a car or flapping our gums.

I was at the sign shop the other day and he guesstimated about $100 per 3'x8' vinyl banner, white with balck lettering and the colored Anarchy symbol. We could donate to a Pay-Pal account to pay for this.

Alrighty folks, let me know what you think. I'm sure some of you have ideas to add and share.

Checkpoint Racing/Salta Motorsports here in Denver have a vinyl cutter and have made quite a few banners. They'd be good to contact about it... And I think it's a great idea.

Excellent! Cristy and I are going to hang out in Ft. Collins until her surgery so we'll have time to see them. Maybe even have a beer with you!

that might mean more members here

can we (mentally) handle that? tee hee

I wouldn't be opposed to working on an RA crew and having some banneresque type o stuff, but I'm having a hard enough time figuring out how I'm gonna have the money to get myself to Idaho, I wouldn't be able to donate much

Well, I'm sure I'm probably the only person who feels this way and I'm sure I'm going to be flamed, but what the fuck, I'm saying it anyway.

I think its not the greatest idea to use the logo and name. The GROUP idea is excellent, however, making banners with the logo I think is a poor message to send out. Especially with the flaming anarchist A. There is too much bad stuff associated with that in itself, and no, I'm not about to write ANYONE a paper on what I mean.

By portraying a group associated with even the word anarchy, at an organized event has the chance of coming off like a protest of the events organization. Now, if that's the goal, well, then, by all means, protest away.

But if the goal is to just help out and try to make a name for yourselves, I would leave the banner and logo out. Word of mouth is good enough for your reputations, as a spectator isn't going to care if you frequent Special Stage or Rally Anarchy. They're going to be focused on the cars going by. The people who will care are the people who just being told where your from is enough.

But anyway. I'm probably alone in this thought and reasoning, and I'm okay with that. If you feel the need to flame me, whatever, my opinion still stands.

I think that you are just simply taking it way too seriously and forgetting that it's all in fun.

Such as, for an example, Mike Bosch and Lara Stoke's team name is "roadkill racing". I don't think anyone reads that and then thinks that he's out there purposely hitting animals for the fun of it.

It'd just be a name for a volunteer group, like Gloria named our group at OTR this year the "ridge riders". Sure, anarchy wasn't in the title, but I don't think anyone would have cared if it was. Now, if it was something vulgar, like "the cunt fuck crew", yeah, I could see there being an issue.

Not too mention inappropriate since there was kids around. smiling smiley

Would make it easier for me to find fellow Rally Anarchista at the event.

Well, I know its all in fun, but the majority of people viewing the banner might not, that's the point I'm making.

besides, having anarchy in the name wouldn't do anything more than make people think we're fans of some new punk band or that maybe it was a new form of clothing or new kind of energy drink

most people aren't going to take the word "anarchy" seriously

if it was "antichrist rally" then yeah, although even that might be able to be explained away by being fans of the vehicle in the movie the gods must be crazy

I'll happily donate. I think a Rally Anarchy team is a fantastic idea. I'm as mainstream as anybody here but I think it would send a good message. All ralliests ( at least old ones) are a bit of rebel to start with. We all are passionate about the sport and we can all easily come together to help the sport. I would insist on the Anarchy logo.
