Rally Idaho random updates
July 09, 2009 10:00AM
Wednesday afternoon was hot and sunny with a smattering of teams arriving by early evening and trickling in till past midnight. Beer was consumed and lies were told.
I've seen a handful of regular Rally Anarchy members and wished them luck.
Recce opened at 0600 this morning and some have swapped tires onto a street car and have proceeded onto Recce, the rest swarmed the Continental breakfast and then registration at 0800.
More later when there is actually something to report

Thursday afternoon......Low 80's, high overcast. Recce went well, some roads very fast, some pretty twisty, a good mix although dusty.
Tech is happening now and Rallymech and Heymagic and a couple of other volunteers are surrounded by cars. No drama, as everyone is either experienced or a fairly well prepared rookie. So far kinda boring with nothing of note to mention. A pretty good turn out from all the western states. only 2 bikes?! and maybe 1 unlimited.

Maybe I can get the Rallymech to post later. Certainly NoCoast will have footage and color commentary tomorrow.

Hi kids! This is Robert reporting from lovely Mountain Home Idaho. It took me about 8 hours to get here, but it wasn't too bad. It's hot as hell and going to get worse tomorrow. Gene, Allan and I got all the cars through tech. The rally camaro is quite a beast! I am about to eat some Bratwurst off the BBQ and drink some beer! Grant got his rear beam John. Tom, I wish you were here!

Robert.

It is so neat to hear 3 very healthy V-8s making vast amounts of noise and blowing dust everywhere. Testosterone at its best!! Too bad some long haired kid in an old CRX is gonna kick their asses...

Long stages..will depend on who can hold their concentration. I suspect the scales tip in Holmes favor on that.

Late news: Adam Crane is enjoying the sunset about a mile out of town.
Maybe when spark comes back he can drive back to town.

Crossing the fingers for ya Adam!

And re long stages: YeeeeeeeeeeeeeHAAAAAW! They're a special challenge and a special delight!
What are the lengths?

Is the fuckin motor running after Robert showed up?
Cell phone coverage sucks and we're all crossing the fingers the stoppage was something simple and not another fiasco.

and all you can say is Adam is here.
Fail, dude!

Brian Scott in the lead by less than .2 secs over Lachlin O'Sullivan in the SRT Neon. Close battle. Holmes, Utecht and Morris all back a ways. No grip on the dusty, round gravel stages. Road looks good but is similar to ice. RWD at a dis-advantage it seems. Cody is kickin butt, Adam is ok. Eddie Fiorelli off hit a tree just after the FF. Lou Beck is off, 2 Tabor cars off and a couple others I'm not sure about. Mid 90's in service. 60 mile transit to service, mostly uphill...way up hill...cars due in at Parc Ferme at 7pm. Probably would be a good event for a snow lovin old Saab.

scott hit a tree and went off at the beginning of SS 5....I'm not 100% sure, but I think he's out.

SRT4 is still #1 overall and in G5. Keith Jackson is now #1 in open AWD, with Paul Eklund right behind him.

and someone else went off at the same place Eddie did and.......you guessed it....hit Eddie's car. No idea how much more damage that did, but Eddie's front left corner was pretty messed up previously.

Lots of offs today....fortunately no one hurt.

These roads are really fucking fun.

Looks like we lost 12 cars today. Cody damaged his oil pan, I think the pick-up tube is on the pan, pressure is low.

Saturdays stages are different, bigger, faster, may be revenge for Utecht and Holmes...Hopefully no dust and no delays.

No mention of another car hitting Eddies in the Stewards meeting.

Like most Corollas he ended up on his roof....soft roll, lightly cracked windshield, lost the Indy car rear wing and back in the mix today.
