I believe that the Droop Snoot Group is in the process of manufacturing them.. they have a set of molds for all of the droop snooty vauxhall cars.. and used to lend them around, but that isn't working so hot anymore. I think the real problem is that the chevette and many other smaller cars have such a shitty rap here. Calling the HSR Chevette ugly is a bit of a stretch, it's no ferrari but I can think of MANY MANY uglier cars. Andrew M Onterrible 30ish |

I guess the difference between the "ugly" Chevette and the "pretty" Escort is that the Chevette is readily available for chump change here in the States.
Ted: I have a set of flares like this for the Chevette (mine are actually for a Kadett C - and there is one difference - the fronts don't connect to the fascia, but are like the backs) which are readily available for anyone to make molds from: ![]() Similar to this: ![]() Or this: ![]() "Talk about drugs. Hey Wilson
Good to know the moulds are available over here -- I missed out on a nice low mile 76 2 door at the local auto auction a few months ago. It was mint, went for $200. Doesn't pay to skip a week. t Pure mathematics is the enemy of every truly creative man -- Sir Alec |

I said NICE CARS--is that I'm saying the 240 Volvo for us'ns (or is zat "we'ze? ah grammar, fuckit) here in North America, in the "Naughties" (last decade was the Ninties, this must be by inescapably rigid logic the "OOs" but how do you say "00"? "Zero zeros"? "Oh Ohs?" "Oughties as in "I'm gonna pepper yore ass with some 12g double-ought load", or my choice "Naught" for zero. Hence, logically "the Naughties" ![]() availability size for the roads used 90-98% of the time Potentialities of the OEM parts especially the existing ENGINE--doubly so in turbo. I mean of course the escort is Soooper Bitchin, and of course Chevvette you had to cheer for them at the time and man that pretty green Kadett is beautiful, but THERE"S NO POINT IN SUGGESTING THESE CARS AS VIABLE PROJECTS TODAY. Who the fuck has built really comprehensive Gp2 cars since Bottles VW and THAT was the first I know of in almost a decade---I haint talking about boys taking their back seats out and calling it "Grope, too" While we see clear and ample proof the 240 works as well as the Gp4 Escorts, Kadetts and Chevettes---for less than 1/3 the cost. And with plentiful spares waiting in the yard. Rememeber ! Wilson,
I like the flares you have better. The front of the other style is actually what I don't care for. The back half of the car if quite fine. JVL, Wilson's point is the Volvos you suggest aren't really Volvos when finished. There are extensive mods to both the Volvo and Merkur that take a lot of time and effort. Putting that into a Chevette is no different. No one ever raced a Merkur when they were current(that I'm aware of) and I don't remember a stock suspended Volvo ever doing well around here back in the day. It was always RX-3, 510, Colts without any real mods. Build what you want, take your time (years if needed) because it will last forever. At the current rate of events canceling due to low participation it will be hard to wear out a rally car a couple years from now.... |

Yeah. I search from time to time for them - Buick Opel Isuzu in the US. They do pop up. There is a gasoline coupe in Alabama not far from me that is supposed to be completely stock and in insanely good condition. Only I can't get the guy to call me back.
But as it is, I'm up to my elbows in all things BMW E30, and have a flat fender Willys in pieces in the garage, so the Opel will have to wait.
