I thought up a punch line to add to my original post below:

Glave, in Värmland, just a couple of km from Arvika, home of local hero World rally Championship driver Per Eklund who when Kenny was 10 was the last man to win a WRC round in a Saab 96. Hereäs the link to Google maps, this is right in the middle of the hottest rally country and where the Swedish Rally has been held since it went to a winter format http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=59.55,12.55&spn=0.1,0.1&t=h&q=59.55,12.55 It's a safe bet that he had more kms on gravel/snow/ice before he was 19 then the Rally Gods of America have today. Not a lot of asphalt there today, way less 30-40 years ago. > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! I guess they're up to about 565-575 hp these days with this size (per my tuner friend in Sweden). Bob Opel is a 4-letter word... http://www.flickr.com/photos/10498579@N07/sets/ |

The Fiestas did look to be up to the task! Nice to see a litlle competition.
But, winning rally x-games is a crap-shoot with the two car matchups and elimination. Do they really post times? Travis certainly made the final without actually beating a running car. Ted Mendham www.rensport.net |

Send all the cars out at the same time, full on wheel to wheel racing! Should make for excitement with everyone jockeying for position before the gap jump! |

This was on the other thread in the other forum.
"Xgames is a lottery, congrats to Ford for the win, they really brought some trick prototypes to the event this year and SRTUSA drivers almost got them at the end...with basically production based chassis/drivetrains.." Doesnt this not sound like self pitty? |

When ken hit that barrier his rear wheel was all messed up. He probably was in a 3 wheel drive at that point with a slight crab walk. He realized he didn't have the speed to clear the jump and he bypassed it.
I don't blame him for that, he could have nose dove into the jump. But that would make for good TV... right? On the other hand he still beat Deegan's broken car with his broken car. The announcers didn't know what they were talking about because they said Ken GAINED time skipping the jump and that's why he won the race and was DQ'd. It seems a bit slower to go around a jump and run over a bunch of stuff rather than go flying through the air (granted you can't accelerate in the air). |

He was getting frustrated and furious (tried to play off fast and furious but didn't work out) the fact that his car was broken and the guys couldn't fix it in the commercial break. He didn't look too happy at all. It almost looked like he was crying in the car at one point.
Then again I would have probably dropped some F-bombs too that the jump that "looks good for TV" actually made the racing boring and "not so good for TV" since it seems a lot of cars broke because of it. |

Sounds like sore losing. That was Alex talking so it's highly biased to the Subarus. What he really meant to say was... No margin for error at this X-Games. Congrats to Ford for the win, goes to show when you spend more money than your competitor you have a speed advantage! We run a production chassis with stronger 5 speed dog boxes thrown into a 6 speed case, and a weekend budget that's a whole teams year spendings, but who's counting? If Ken didn't clock that wall it would have been him and Travis to fight for the final spot. I could have seen Ken beat Travis so your final would have been Brack vs Ken which would have been interesting. |

When they're the ones used to have the equipment superiority and then someone comes out with something better and eats their lunch on their turf they bring out the "we had a lesser machine" excusse. When in fact I never heard the humble sayings of something like "we won because we had a better car" coming from them. Or even better, "we got beat by a driver who hasnt raced since 2005". |
