No restrictor required for Pike's Peak.
On the dyno in Colorado Springs they had 458 hp at the wheels. That was Wednesday though and they were having difficulties with the altitude.
They said the cars were staying in the US for good though apparently.

I was stoked to see them on tv, but Deegan was a poor choice of driver. Even if he did have problems, you see the in car footage of how he was treating the car on his way back to the pits? He would NOT have won even with a perfect car. Shame really.

Well since some didn't see---we were watching Finland WRC stage by stage---how did he treat the car? Petting the dash and saying "there there---good little car..."

What, what WHAT? Where do you get to see such things? My TV won't show me rally, especially not stage by stage, that's why I have to go to this X-games show every year.

He was not an oval driver. He was a Formual 3000 and even F1 test driver before going into IRL and Champ car. But of all the drivers there he's the one with the most experience.

They were done with the tech scales by that point, so who cares?

Not sure what was clear on TV, but he smacked the barrier on the turn before the jump and as a result, couldn't build enough speed to be confident he'd clear it. Felt, for a moment at least, like he was 2WD, he said. You don't have much time to make the jump/don't jump decision...

What I haven't figured out is why Travis stopped when he bumped the wall. Didn't look like a hard enough hit to break anything. Both front wheels still pointed the right direction. He came to a stop and just sat there. Never even tried to back up, as far as I could tell. Anybody know what happened? He's been doing this long enough to know you don't just cry when shit goes wrong, so I'm guessing there was a mechanical failure somewhere when he hit, but I don't know what.

Brack definitely showed everyone up on the tarmac. He had the cleanest and quickest lines, everyone else was doing huge powerslides but brack was keeping it more in line. Not only did he make it through the eliminations to get 1st he also posted the fastest times of anyone.

Those fiestas are bad ass and I hope they race the series next year. I dont know why they wouldnt be legal in open class, they just out class the vsc subarus by a large margin but are still within the rules.

I think its lame that Pastrana only had to do 1 full lap (against ACP) and still got 2nd.

It was a fun show, though. Not rally, but entertaining racing. Less carnage than last year, the landing seemed bigger and easier to hit. 40 ft gap with a 70 ft sweet spot this year vs 70 ft or death last year.

It looked like he broke the front right tie rod or control arm on the inside and then went outside and hit the wall with rear.

The left front wheel never countersteered (I happened to have a 300mm lens pointed right at him when it happened, so I saw it up close). Seems that if he broke a tie rod on the right, he'd still be countersteering with the left wheel, at least for the instant between impact and finally realizing he was done. Maybe he broke the steering shaft? Seems odd to have the failure that far upstream...

Didn't say oval driver, said roundy pounder. Road courses are still driving around in circles. And before you get too uptight I've worked in pro and club racing (ALMS, SCCA World Challenge, etc) the past few years.

Besides, how dare you interrupt my clever barb with the facts! Never mind that given that he's from Sweden, certainly he's been in a rally car before, right?
