Guy that rented Block his car down there is also cool. Don't remember his name, but his crew was fun. We did some Navy Seals type spectating with them at Laughlin one year. Like 05 I think.

Do you mean Sam Murray? I think that's who Ken teamed up with for his adventures down there, but I don't know it that's who got him the car.

Yeah it was totally Sam Murray. Never actually met Sam, just hung out with his crew on the stages.

Roughly 6 hours after the plane landed in New Zealand:

This is the rally machine:

drives like a 1.5-liter Buick, but we're making the most of it.

Finally staying in a real hotel (first night in a hostel, second night on a boat), and we're watching TV. Just watched Top Gear. Now we're watching deep, deep coverage of Rally Austrailia. And by deep, I mean I just saw a Corolla...

What a country...

The much fabled crown of these roads looks crazy from that vid. It looks like you could get high centered from just driving in the middle of the road on some of those turns.

You wouldn't happen to know if that's available as a torrent on the internet, would you? Rally Australia is one of my favorite rounds, and there's nothing better than getting rally unwatered(?) down!

Have a blast over there, I'm super jeolous!

Working on getting pictures and clips onto the interwebs. Meanwhile, this was my favorite car:

unfortunately, I just missed it at service, and then it broke and disappeared, so I never got a close up look.

When/where did you get to drive one?

First time I ever saw one was when I toured Nissan's proving ground in Oppama, Japan (just outside Yokohama) in 1992. They were using them to train test drivers. Guys would run around the oval, go halfway though the banked turn and then pitch them sideways on the banking, drift all the way down to the straight, turn down into a crossover section in the middle of the oval, do a figure-8 donut in the middle of the crossover, then shoot back out onto the oval to do it again. There were two 240RSes and a Z32 doing this continually for the short time I was there.

That's what gave me the false impression that Japan was a cool place to be.
