It was a typical "grip rebound and not being un-doing the steering fast enough". Thats what put him into the the ditch, he let off, wheels grip hard catapulting the rear when the wheels are still in oposite lock. Its a driver error, but it happens to the best. Samething happened to Havas at RNY this spring when because of failed power steering, he couldnt unlock the wheel fast enough and went into the ditch in the same way. -PF |

Whenever I do subaru cage I just bend the fuel lines around the cage and secure them down with an Adel clamp or two (because the stock plastic clips don't work very well.) |

Bloody hell...
Any more arguments like this and I may have to become a Block fan just to spite John ![]() For the record, I dislike the goofy skaterboy persona with the sideways baseball caps and goofy gang-sign-like pointy finger poses, and for god's sake someone buy the boy a razor ![]() Yes his Scooby Doo team is big money playing in a Clubman level sandbox -- but he's not offending the laws of nature or torturing puppies, why all the hate? Are we placing the mantle of blame for the increasing costs of rally squarely on Ken's shoulders? Is there really anything wrong or is he just a convenient lightning rod? He bought the coolest RWD toy out there, which un-named parties on here occasionally advocate, to go have fun in the woods. Oh, for shame... That's a long travel coilover thing. I'd have to run a 1" spacer to run the 15X7et30 and 17X7.5et30 Compomotive MO and TH2s on the front of mine. I run a 15X6et25 up front and the 15X7et30s in the rear and am fine. It did rub. Grant Hughes |

If any one of my offs were scrutinized as much as Ken's I'd probably be sent to remedial driver's training. Am I a bit jealous I don't get to spend as much time in as cool cars as Ken does? Yep. But even if I did, I don't think I'd take the chances he does. I think he will continue to get faster, because you learn limits by exceeding them regularly, and he doesn't seem to be afraid of personal injury to push them. I'm glad I'm not in the spotlight as much as he is. Autograph sessions suck...I'd rather be going over my car one last time in Parc Expose or discussing stages with the Navitron. I've paid to have professional help before. I trust my own hands and my band of gypsy crew more, and if I don't have faith in the equipment, I can't drive it as hard. Most of the "big boy" bashing I see on here is out of jealousy. And that's perfectly natural. I'm guilty of it myself from time to time. But be careful what you wish for. The more "successful" you are, the brighter the spotlight. And the spotlight focuses on your wrongs more brightly than your rights. Drive a mile in another man's shoes before you pass judgement. In the meantime, enjoy the fact that someone has the money and desire to commission a cool RWD Escort, can put together sponsorship deals to campaign excellent machinery, and can put on a great rally inspired show. Does it hurt the clubman? In some ways it hurts, and in some ways it helps. I don't know what the net effect is. Lurch Eric Burmeister The west coast...of Michigan |

That sound of the car on the in-car is awesome! I'd like to see the whole stage to that point.
I'm withdrawing from Rally Colorado due to this thread. I'm now convinced that my fuel pump will fail on stage one and I'll have wasted $1000+. Just kidding, though I am withdrawing for reasons I'm not sharing. Ken is the most fun driver in US rallying to watch and film on the stages. Yeah, he's destroying alot of equipment. But it's keeping a whole group of people in Vermont and New Hampshire employed doing something they're passionate about at the same time. I'm sure Colin had plenty of hate from the club level guys in the late 80s/early 90s when he was destroying cars left and right. The thing I worry about is what is going to happen to rally most particularily Rally-America when Travis and Ken get tired of rallying or decide they're over the risk. Though that's second to my worry about when Doug Havir gets tired of rally. Grant Hughes |

It looks plausible to me... maybe we need to send Jamie and Adam out to the Alameda testing grounds to do some full scale testing while we keep Keri here for some other experiments. Grant,
That actually is the entire stage. The start was maybe 100 metres back from the start of the video. This was like the 4rd corner on the stage, As he sets up for the corner, you see how the road ahead changes colours? The apex of that corner, and where the car turns left is actually Tarmac.... and pretty tricky. I am pretty sure that others have been off here in the past. Seriously cool car! Serveral were betting he would win the 2 tarmac stages of the rally overall. And do very well in the later stages on Saturday Afternoon in/around ripon. I think the stages on Saturday AM would have been pretty tricky... there are soo many little details on this car you can't even see until being 3 feet from it! Chris |
