If you pay for something you can reasonably expect a 'better' product than if you get it for free. Doesn't matter if it is sex or TV ... if you pay for it you can (generally) expect a wider variety of options available and you are more likely to get it when you want, not only when someone else decides you want it. In practice, paying for tv mostly just gives you more of the same garbage but there is the occasional pearl that makes it worth while. > HD theatre is a re-brand of Showtime HD .... I > think but could be wrong. Yes, wrong, but no biggie. It's one a them smaller channels that you don't always hear about, but should. HD Theater http://dhd.discovery.com/ is a Discovery Communications network (not to be confused with Discovery Channel HD, tho it's all in the family), featuring all sorts of stuff from the worldwide Discovery portfolio AND a bit of car/bike programming (WRC, Isle of Man, Speedway Bikes, classic cars...). > Specialty broadcaster that you'd need to subscribe > to, but TV none the less. Indeed. The channel is in 20-something million homes and counting. As an HD-only network, you have to sign up for a cable or satellite HD package in order to receive. I'm sure that the nice people who work there would appreciate the support. Livesockets has limited home video rights to some nice WRC compilation-type properties, but does not have the rights to show WRC events themselves. In summary: The 2009 WRC season is available in the United States, on HD Theater. Future seasons might be available, too, depending on how this one goes. So...tune in at 8p ET every Sunday. Repeats at 11p ET / 8p PT and frequently through the week (it is cable, after all). |

I used to record the Big Joe Polka Show when I worked at The Great Indoors selling TV's and home theater equipment. I used to put it on all the TVs when there were Bronco games on to discourage people from coming over to sit around and watch football games. My all time favorite though would be to pause the station the game was on for about 10-20 minutes early in the day. Then near the end of the 4th quarter I'd jump it back to live and they'd completely miss the end of the game. Another fun one was to record a game on Sunday and then play that on Monday night instead of the Monday night football game and really confuse people. Grant Hughes |

Wednesday nights were by far the most fun. It was just Steve Bis and I working every Wednesday, and where the two of us met and got into rallying together. But we'd set the largest bank of TV's to WRC. The second sized bank of TVs we'd set to Australian Rules Football. Then the TV that ran the only HD satellite box we'd set to Bring It On. Every week, it was the same stuff for four hours. We could see hot girls, real football, and rallying everywhere we looked.

Notice the official announcement about KB in the WRC hasn't come yet.
My theory is that Subaru is working a bid to put him and Chris in Subarus instead of Fords and that Subaru of Australia, Subaru of America, and Subaru International are going to be primary sponsors probably along with Monster and a few others. Will this mean no more SRTUSA and no 2010 contingency program is the only part I can't decide on. Spending all that money on Ken in the WRC would have a higher ROI than investing in rallying in the US. The focus on Ken at SEMA, the lack of a new car for him from VSC after Ojibwe, the three year contract with VSC being up over year, all would support this hopefully highly unlikely theory that I've constructed over the past few weeks. They're looking for other options like Mazda wanting an S2000, the Proton deal, and the meager Subaru customer GrN and WRC privateer accounts. |

And where does that leave Travis, regarding continuing rallying? It does look like Subaru/VSC was setting limits on how many cars the boys could write off this season. Ken, DC-Shoe and Monster Energy have a good thing going in the US. Seriously, do they really have the money, connections, viral-hype power, talent or whatever it takes to be running WRC? I dunno, maybe Monster Energy wants to outspend Red Bull over there. Fiesta Sporting Trophy rental program maybe? Ted Mendham www.rensport.net |

Fiesta Sporting Trophy rental program > maybe? > > > > > > > Ted Mendham > www.rensport.net My personal opinion on the whole VSC car thing but... My personal feelings are that with out a contract for 2010 and beyond Lance opted to pocket the money that the new cars would cost in the event that Subaru dropped the program moving forward. The contracts clearly required Ken and Travis be provided with 2008/2009 Subarus at all National events, but not necessarily which class they had to be entered in. I mean why spend any money on building Ken a new 2009 car when you anticipate doing things differently in 2010 (in terms of drive train and what not)? Why let Travis go after stage wins/records with the championship in the bag with one more event to go and the event un-winnable? I think the decision to put Ken in Dave's unused SP car was purely in Lance's best interests (and I can't fault him at all for it!). If Subaru drops out the money faucet in Vermont shuts off for a while, got to put a little in the bank sooner or later... |
