It's really that simple. Whether its "the same" or not, doesn't really apply in this case. It was a simple comparison for a country where the main known motorsport *is* NASCAR So why not use NASCARS' highest class? Even John said, "and is perceived to be the most prestigious championship in its specific branch of motosport... " Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

" Timmay! Go back and look, tweren't me that said that. It was Kevin "Kartman" aka JVL's Little Buddy. No I always have said that the only CAR racing worth a goddam in USA is circle track but that's because there is circle track events all over the country, it has thousands doing it and so a "more normal" distribution of the population is active and so statistically there is a greater chance of people of various skills and aptitudes being in it (a normal bellcurve) and a greater chance of "a more normal distribution of talent, and of GOOD talent showing thru. As opposed to any sportscar, water bug open wheel or even now rally with sparse participation, vast gulfs of millions of dollars in spending power in same classes > > > > Feisty Peacock? > > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Because WRC is a true world championship - NASCAR is not. But I'm guessing we aren't going to agree on that, so lets not waste anymore time on it :-). Brgrds Brian ![]() |

I wondered how long it would take until someone FINALLY mentioned John Buffum!?!?!?!?
I think John should come out of retirement and do a couple of events to show Blockhead how it's done! Shoulda seen him drive at Targa a couple of years ago. He was only a camera car but they couldn't loose him. It was hilarious to watch some of the teams try their damnedest to pull away from him. Ian Glyn-Jones Panach Rally Team Ontario, Canada |

Ramon Ferreyros was the first American to run full time, more or less, Enough to win un-official GrN championship a year before it came official. It was called "FIA Production Cup". He was invited to Paris to get the trophy.
Ramon run under Peruvian flag to get Peruvian sponsors but he was born in San Francisco and that was (still is?) part of Norte America. I hope Ken wins (gets in lucky punch, maybe at Turkish or Creek demolition derby) and generally does well so FORD keep sponsoring WRC. - RWD rocks - |

This year the Rally of Turkey will be based in Istanbul due to the date moving to April. The stages will not be nearly as brutal. In fact, this weekend they are having the 3rd round of the Istanbul regional championship there.
rally gods would turn in their graves if they ever knew Lada's were now part of EU rallying!!! |
