Can you imagine how quickly you'd get laughed out of town trying to get road permissions for something like that in the US?

Cool video.

The white GT3 at 1:55 does it for me... I love all the e30 action too... seems like such a good handling toss-able little car. FUN!

Really? Easy no but I think it's possible. It's just an industrial park. Seems it would be easier to get permission for this than for any roads where anyone actually lived or traveled for recreation. Some are all private roads too so you wouldn't really even need to ask the town if there was no zoning prohibition.

Something like that would be a great feeder IMO.

Chance of destroying your car = fairly minimal

Fun factor = quite high

Accessability (both spectating and participating) = pretty high

What's not to like?

Rallye Quebec ran a stage in an industrial park (Parc Technologie in Quebec City and the town of Merritt tried to get the PFR organisers to run through the town streets but the organisers (wisely) declined because they didn't think they could safely secure the roads. (not enough bodies)

There is an industrial park in Calgary that is closed off for bicycle races, and we've seen roads shut down for open wheel races in Vancouver, Toronto and many other places.

The reality is that for a 'not for profit' rally type event these venues are going to be long shots and a lot of work to get and operate. Logistics would be huge.

In Denmark it's pretty common too.
It's done on sundays where normally nobodys working.

As mentioned by Andrew, accessability makes it a big hit.

At my first rally sprint at Ville de La Baie there was one stage in town! It was way too short (around 2 minutes if I remember right) but it was really nice!

I remember waiting at the start line and hearing my name over the speakers, and then the crowd went crazy... ok maybe I dreamed the last part LOL But I was really impressed by the number of people standing next to the road!

It has been done here in Washington a few times. In many ways I see it as less a problem then getting a pristine forest road.

In the long run reality always wins.

That's just it.. the reality is looking like, I'll never be "able" to rally for at least 20+ years..

If this sort of thing was going on, I'd make it happen in 5.
