Can't you just sew a FIA patch to your footy pajamas and call it good?

When down in MX at the LA Carrera they told me my suit would expire the next year as it was 5 years old. This was a first for me...

It's obvious that it is a double layer SFI suit, it's just missing the SFI patch cause it is so old, its got Simpson labels on it....I always get a lil bit of crap bout it

But on that note, the 5-year FIA suit life (like the one for seats) is generally stretched out at rallies in the US, right?

For now, yes. But I bet a bunch of risk management attorneys will fix that soon enough and it will continue to be cheaper to get caught street racing several times than to get involved in legitimate competition. Now where's that Vermont Sports Car sticker for my snowmobile? winking smiley

Since it is a Simpson you can send it to them and if it really meets the SFI 3a/5 requirements they will sew the patch on there for you, I think the cost is less than $50 for the cert.
