Ok in no way is this a bragging session, but info that is very relavent? to the convo...

This way my first year out(finally) competing.
I ran a completely stock 02' WRX for the entire year.
Car had full stock TBE for first 2 events. After, had just a cat back piece.
32mm restrictor all year.

My results and progression of some slight mods.
RNY USA - Prod AWD. Finished 1st in class by nearly 7+ minutes. 9th overall.
No tune. No alignment, No suspension settings. Pushed the car on the trailer to the event not knowing if it was even going to run yet. So no time for little things.

Rally TN - SS. 2nd in class by only 16 seconds. 6th overall.
Finally got tuned. Still no alignment and no suspension settings.

NEFR - 1st in PGT Friday regional. 4th overall. DFL on Saturday regional due to small off.
Blown suspension for entire event from stage 1. Multiple other small issues as well.

BRS - 1st in SS. 3rd overall.
Finally some suspension settings!

IRNY - DNF.
Was running 9th overall after stage 5 before rolling out 5 times.

These cars in stock form even with a restrictor are extremely capable of being quite fast and being in a top 5 position at most NASA RS events.

Anders, if you need any help at all im totally willing to get you there to get something like this off the ground. I know many specs for the 2002-2005 cars down to some of the most minute details.

Can also aid in a tune if needed. can just use mine from this year i guess, haha.
build of some arrive and drive cars can certainly be arranged being i have 3 WRX shells sitting in my shop right now.

Talk to you at PRI winking smiley

the woods are lovely, dark and deep. and still hours to go before i sleep.

Sean,

I suspect in the beginning it was about speed. Controlling speed thru lower power. Controlling power thru inlet restriction. I think both F1 and Indy had enough issues with blow off valves that rally went the other route. I think it worked at first. But clever humans tuned around it. Power is still in check but torque is impressive.

Malcolm runs his stock Mitsu ECU with a GM MAF and some sort of converter box. He has been one the dyno but not at huge fees, does most of his tuning with his wideband input. The car is very quick and has 2 years on the engine with no issues.

I really don't care how the upper limit is contolled as long as we can police it in an intelligent fashion.

And I agree wholeheartedly with youor last statement. Amen brother.

one of my favorite quotes: "There is no cheating, just winning" Once you have winning on the brain, its hard to care about the rules.
