http://rs60.rapidshare.com/files/20853457/TRD_Corolla_Levin_Sprinter_Trueno_Special_Edition_Bible.rar
Its for the TRD Corolla "bible" thing.

lol, sorry, between college, rally car, social life, and trying to get employed in a new field, I haven't had time haha.

Just do what Adam did, and throw a Dana 30 from a 240 under it.

Yeah, I've had a copy of it for a Looooong time. It's helpful, but it doesn't have the depth the ford books have. I've also got an RX7 one somewhere around, and some VW golf ones, I think, too.

Yes. Volvo 240 rear axle, standard gear ratios from 3.3 something, to 4.10. Lockers are cheap for the dana 30.

I, with TSS williams help will be building a number of Volvo axles, tell me what that number should be. unless told otherwise they will be set up for standard corollas (4x4.25in - centering for the wheels.
1 (spare for me)
1 (roger Jackman - for the colt - DW2010)
1+ (up for grabs - dirty drifters anyone?)

i think it's interesting that both the 'hot shit' cars listed above have 5.83 gears.
you can get a 5.3 for the Volvos (i have one - it's tits).

in the article, what are the hoses going into the top of the head?
also - is that black column in the trunk a return swirl pot?

The tube on the head is probably an oil excavating hose. Whether it goes to catch can, a cooler (and then the sump) or to something else, I don't know.

Dunno about the black thing.

So what's the track width on that rear end? That bolt pattern would work awesome with me as then I could use the full Merkur front suspension on the Starlet, the rear brakes and coilover from the Merkur on the rear, and all my 4X108 Compomotives would be useable on both cars. Pretty cool.

Yeah, so the Starlet has the steering rod on the rear of the front upright. The roll bar is mounted towards the front and acts as the locating member for castor. On the Merkur the steering in on the front of the upright and the roll bar/locating member is located on the rear. The dimensions of the TCA and distance from the TCA to the mounting location of the roll bar to TCA are within half an inch on both cars. So you take the front left corner from the Merkur and use it on the front right, with adjustable control arms, and you've suddenly got way beefier shit, or in my case, really cool brakes and suspension.
Merkur front suspension, Volvo rear end, and a Yamaha R1 engine and gearbox? Sounds like a winner or at least a ton of fun to me.

By the time you get around to doing an engine I should have a gearbox adapter...likely for a CBR1000 engine. The guy who built the Metro-Gnome really wants to do a bike engined road car which means hooking the engine to a real transmission (w/reverse) with a decent sized flywheel.

disc face to disc face is about 55.5inches vs 55.25 on the corolla.
we could drill the axles (and discs) to whichever bolt pattern you need.

I've welded the diff in the rally car.
Tim T. what ever happened to the hydrolok diff you were playing with?

It might be better due to distance to just get the axles and brackets from you guys, then source my own case and diff locally. There's hundreds of Volvos at the pull yourself yards here. Plus I might get the shortened. Starlet is something like 50" and the wheels I'd use are 15X6 et 25. Suppose I could just go with flares to make it wide track in the rear, but may be more difficult to get the same or similar track up front.

Still sitting on the shelf. It's waiting for me to get time to measure everything up for new axle shafts, install a new ring and pinion, and new bearings. I don't think Al is going racing any time soon...he doesn't need any extra traction to let his Volvo rust in the driveway.
