cars and coffee. some rally content.

So for all you SoCal'ers, this is old hat, but my first time attending C&C was today, and there was a ton of great rides. Not TOO much rally stuff but an amazing Alpine and a semi-rallied out 240.

those are all played out "cool cars" and "classic cars" and "played out cool classic cars"... where are the pictures of guys that showed up with out of the ordinary piece of shit cars that were made into something unique and interesting?? and a free paint job from multiple paints he found in the garbage?

ferrari, porche, 1930-1970 cars... ugh. too boring. they were unique back in the day, but now they are the standard look a like for a "cool car"

i'll stick to Coffee and Hyundai just because they rhyme.

That Alfa is nice!
GTVs are ItalDesign (think Giugiaro) and pretty decent cars. The main issue is with the "donuts" on the driveshafts. Can be pretty quick with the 3lt out of the 75 aka Milano or the 164. They are rwd and have 50/50 weight distribution.

Wow, who pissed in your cheerios?

Guess you didn't see the Jaguar e-type race car? The v8 911s? The Skyline or R8? Renault Alpine? The many Alfa GTVs and GTV6s?

Oh, right, you see those every day wherever you live and they really are poser cars.

You forgot a couple things:

Rust
Shift Linkage
2nd Gear Synchro
Rust
Rust
Rust

That's better. Although, living in California, you get a big break on the rust.

They are amazing looking cars though (what pre 80s alfa isn't?)

80s and 90s Skylines are actually becoming the boy racer car of choice over here.. I've heard of people landing them in Canada for very reasonable sums of money.

Now, it's pretty hard to be a poser in an A110 or R8. Most people in NA don't know they even exist.

A110s have to be one of my favourite cars of all time, right up there with the Matra D Jet.

I like the look of Panteras, in a they're better looking than a Countache before the Countache was even made kind of way. But I hear they were never really all that hot all round performance wise. One thing that I have to note, that any given day of the week theres at least half a dozen Panteras for sale in the States alone! To me that says they're an oft sought after and yet so easy to let go car. (there can't be THAT many of them out there).

I have seen some rust free examples but also seen rusted to death ones, including one with a Callaway setup a few years back. The guy was asking something like 12 grand for the motor and the body came with it!
Shift linkage and particularly 2nd gear synchro issues are definetely a problem. How could I have forgetten that fact in the car I learned how to double clutch beats me...
I still love any form, year or shape gtv

That's actually a 1954 Corvette Nomad concept vehicle that was originally displayed at the 1954 GM Motorama. http://wiki.gmnext.com/wiki/index.php/1954_Chevrolet_Corvette_Nomad_Concept

A110 navi doesn't wear helmet?
----------
What I like about Pantera: it must be the most practical exotic and you can fix it. It's all steel and simple 'merican iron.
My first job in the Sates was at Dio Bros, Glendale. We did all Italian exotics and while Ferraris, Maseratis and Lambos were fun first they were such a pain in ass to fix. I started to hate them. However, The Pantera was easy and fun to work on and not bad to drive. 10yrs ago I had change to buy one, in terrible shape but running, for $ 9000. Stupid me... I didn't. Gr4 Panteras are popular at tarmac rallies and sooooo cool.

Was it mostly just the fact that they had eleventy billion carbs, or was it more sinister than that?

Panteras are a practical exotic, although I'm not sure if you can really apply the term exotic to something with an american V8.. but I don't make the definitions up.

What do you attribute the massive amounts for sale at any given time to? There are *** 9 *** on ebaymotors right now.

I'm with you.. the Gr4's look amazing.

I saw one once with a little chrome roof rack on the engine lid.. for whatever reason I found that amazing.

For what it's worth, I think everyone here has atleast one not bought car regret and possibly dozen bought regrets!
