Yeah, it's the current, not the voltage. It takes a lot to actually fry someone, but there's a deadly spot around .1A that apparently causes the heart to frib. Haven't tried it myself - don't plan to.

Not that I'm going to argue with a nurse on this - especially one so kind as to set me up for a shot at Gene.

What specifically does one need to watch out for with sawzalls?

And plasma cutters? Just make sure that you aren't the ground?

Well with sawzalls don't get your finger ahead of the blade guard...I blew the end of one of mine apart on Lou Becks old POS MR2.

I've had more frightening moments with a sawsall than any other tool.

I have a chainsaw at the house. It's no Husky, but it works for the little trees I have.
What I want is a gas powered chop saw. Those things just look scary and I bet you could have some serious fun/danger with one of those.

I got kissed by the sawsall once, 4-inch grinder has snuck up on me twice. Those gas cut-off saws and chain saws do keep your attention, but I have seen the Hole Hawg (big ass drill) leave big tough guys on the ground crying with broken wrists and black eyes.

Now I can't help but ask the expert.

David, in your professional experience, what is the most dangerous tool lurking in the shed?

We have all seen the cool x-rays of people who have been shot in the head nine times with the nail gun. But that's pretty rare.

PS I am not making light of your job David. Way back I got my EMT and worked in an ER for exactly one day. Yikes, I have nothing but respect.

I'd say hammer. Deceptively simple device effective for crunching fingers and hands. I've seen a few go the other way too, face on the upswing.

I'd say it's Shuman the Human cause the tools have no brains so they just lay there inert while Shuman thinks of all sorts of BRILLIANT ideas and says shit like "Hold my beer, and watch this!"

I've been IN enough ERs on the gurney that I usually have mucho respect for the techs and staff but have had such appaling bad attitudes from DOCTORS that I have come to be shocked when i encounter a good one, one that listens and actually does something...

Thanks be to Allah the ones I had last year listened the 5th-or 6th time i tried to get all fixed with the crushed discs in my spine---unlike the useless fucks I previously saw. And paid 9to be asked "How do you FEEL about this problem?" and "Try to take it easy...."

This is why you should use the correct spanner wrenches on adjustable suspension.

This is why you should use a vise or vise grips when trying to drill out an eyelet and not try to hold it with your hand. This is Mitch Williams' hand, not mine.

Try 440 V AC at 8 amps for real fun, my arm hurt for days.

I am one of those people that must attract electricity I get shocked all the time, my friends tell me that it explanes a lot about me.

Wow! That drill got him good!

Worst I've had so far is knuckle meeting a bench grinder, but I had a REALLY close call with a 5/8" drill almost going through my palm as I was backing the microsynth and the barrier I was drilling through. Thought it was between by thumb and index finger like the other 300+, but uh, it wasnt. Caught my palm, made a real cool twisty cut, and I had jerked away before anything else happened.

Thats fun.

I've seen so many terrible, terrible things happen to people that I look forward to the day when I don't have to see anymore. Not a tool but really common thing is CO poisoning. I don't know why some people think they won't drift off to sleep and never wake up. Usually when we see someone shot nine times in the head they don't need an x-ray smiling smiley
