Roger Hull had a black 1G. It was a FWD car and I believe he sold/traded it to Bret Norgard in SoCal when he decided to get into Datsuns again. It looks familiar, but you seen one black 1G, you seen 'em all.

I have no idea what 1G means... I know nothing about Mr. Bitchies, always kind of thought they were crap... This car has a PGT sticker so it might be AWD, Gp5 would be a better home for a turbo FWD car.

I think someone drug one out from back east that had a diamond plate sunroof filler. I think it was pretty well worn, so to speak. I'll ask Mike Irby about this one.

Craig is apparently from Hibbing, MN, birthplace of Robert Zimmerman and the Girl from the North Country.

The car is owned by Dale Beard and is a PGT car described as rough. No belts, Teratrip 202 a 36mm restrictor???? last event was 2005 with a RA log book.

GAB's I remember them well in my Mazdog the name stands for God Awful Bouncers. Never knew where the rear of the car was going to hop to next only knew it was going to jump around a lot.

2K for a caged car? someone needs to hop on this, if for nothing else, use it as a rallycross car.

Yeah, if it was on this side of the country, I'd take a look, it's cheaper than my 5-year-old Ski-Doo! My wife is going to be in Olympia next week............

I admit that I am thinking of buying it to just mess around with till I find the time to build a proper car. Hell I just bought a camera for more then this heap cost, that is an interesting study on value.

So what are the known issues with these things in the rally world? Do they brake drive shafts, gearboxes and such or are they fairly reliable as far as rally cars go?

I expect folding all 6'-3" of me into the thing would be an issue. 30 days to doowops...

That sounds like the one from back east then. I don't exactly remember Dale buying it but it sounds familiar now that I hear it. Someone asked me about the engine a couple years ago, I think it was related to the Tbelt breaking...must have been Dale then.

It was a legal running car a few years ago so likely just the normal clean it up and new belt thing. Dale is pretty adept with a wrench and not stupid so the car must be a reasonable find. He has lots of rally miles in the old days.

Issues, not many really. Trans are fairly stout, probably the best of the AWD cars. Engines are hell for stout. Blocks don't shift like Subes do. Aftermarket is excellent for these. New performance parts are available easily, RS Sport and HotBits and DMS have off the shelf stuff and JV can fab some. Used cars are cheap to buy and they are everywhere here. We bought several last year form a $100 to $1000( had new motor). One weakish point is the clutch pedal becomes loose on the swing arm transfer rod and you get a clutch on the floor. I've seen several sld because they coulsn't get the clutch to work and didn't know why.

A Talon just podiumed back east at a national last year. Malcolm Davies runs at the front of our PNW pak and he is still near novice in experience. I have many hours working on his. It is a good platform and lots of knowledge out there. Well driven the cars are a fair match for any WRX.

Depending on the cage, I'm not sure you will fit confortably at 6'3"

I'm 6' and I kept hitting my helmet on the roll cage in mine. And you could not even push a piece of paper between the bar and the body.

But for that price, I could live with it for a few rallys! Wish it was on my side of the border (and continent for that matters)

Yeah, cage is really dependent. A little sheet metal work, kinda like Timm did in his Corolla, can move seat mounts inward and achieve a better seating position. We did that in one car and I could sit comfortably in it. The other one I sat in hurt my neck as it was always tilted a few degrees thanks to poor fitting cage.
That's a car that you can buy, do a few rallies, and likely sell for near or what you paid for it.
On the other hand, there was a pristine one here for sale for $3000 or so. Took over a year for someone to buy it.

Also, if you take the codrivers seat out, you can deliver pizzas in one. Steve Bis did so in his rally car for a while.
