Maybe being a real live F1 winner means he's used to power or maybe all those Finns have some genetic aberration but this looks pretty quick

Where's the equivalent for Kenny?
What happened to Atky?

Was this testing for the Arctic rally? He really had his foot in it. I hope that rallying loosens him up a bit.

I believe so.
I wonder how many previous outings he's had in rally cars?

"I wonder how many previous outings he's had in rally cars?" Good question. I would think that he has done quite a bit of testing. Even so, he was looking very good in that clip. I want to see more. Did he eventually crash? The transition from Fiat Abrath to Citroen C4 is a big step up.

That was from first testing C4 on WRC roads near Jyvaskyla.
- He did NOT keep his foot down - when he's flying - which shows how intelligent he is and in full control.
It will take him as long as Juan Pablo to get used to NASCAR to start winning, and he knows it. He may win some earlier but to match speed of Mikko, 2x Seb (Loeb/Ogier), and even Jari-Matti, doesn't come easy. He's got cojones, speed and skills but rally is much more than that.
We'll see longer rallies and more night driving thanks to rule changes, and that's when men are separated from boys! Ouninpohja at night in fog is SCARY - 150KPH diving into white cloud is a religious experience...

He grew up in Finland didn't he? I thought he was such a badass F1 driver because he grew up driving rally cars! Aren't lots of Finns BORN in rally cars because dads take fun "shortcuts" on the way to the hospital?

So your take is that the car is in ALS mode in the air as opposed to banging off a rev limiter?

(just asking)

Yeah, when he goes over the crest and is in the air, that sounds like antilag.

It sounds like "pocketa, pocketa, pocketa" to me.

You guys may be right. I though he's holding it steady but what do I know? I've never driven modern rally car!

I thought he was on the limiter while in the air.

My guess would be limiter as well.
I hear a rise in revs (along with the lightened load) accompanied by a stutter (ALS would have a sharper and less frequent 'bang' I'd expect) - that suggests limiter to me.
(entirely possible that they have sensors that recognize a jump and simply act as a limiter to keep wheelspeed the same as at take-off - pure speculation though. and would be more important on tarmac than snow)

Don't they have a new, softer antilag, now, though? I thought they could do it now with out the super violent BANG noises.

With the amount of front end lift, there's no way thats the antilag. With no trotle the car would nose dive. Common guys, we all know this.
