It absolutely does not spin around the wheel. The entire system of the bike and rider rotate around their combined center of gravity. Front wheel, back wheel, both wheels accelerating/decelerating makes no difference. All that matters is the total mass moment of inertia the system has and the momentum change of the wheel. As counter-intuitive as it seems the wheel could be attached anywhere on the bike and it will still have the same reaction on the system.

Tim you're right on that one, each vehicle has its own pivot axis. But hell with this already.

Looks like Kimi center punched a tree on stage two. I hope that rallying warms up the Ice Man a bit. We need more gorilla suites in rally!

No footage of incident happening, but someone else's incar passing them while off, and the car coming into service.

"Center Punched" is very accurate.

something more than him 'looking fast' in a straight line.

Certainly seems to know how to throw the car around.

Looks like he had the foot down part. Just needs to work on the not getting stuck in snow banks part.

I think he was stuck 2-3 times in the first two days of the rally.

well the Finns always say "You can learn to stay on the road, but you can't teach raw speed".

Considering that this was his 4th rally event ever, and it was a very specialised event, I'm impressed.

It sets the bar even higher for other newbs-in-WRC-cars.

They better do a LOT better than top 10-8th if they've had 4-5 whole seasons and limitless training opportunities, or it'll be shameful.

Although, said "newbs-in-WRC-cars" are not Finish F1 champs.

Top 8th is difficult if none of the top giants fall down,

Loeb,
Hirvonen,
Sordo,
Latvala,
Ogier,
P.Solberg,
Wilson,
H.Solberg,
Ostberg,
Villagra,

...and then Kimi poking in there on and off in between the muiltiple seasoned talent, it will be very very difficult for a newb to make it into the top 10 period.

Ohh and what happened to Rautenbach, did Billy finally run out of money?

sixth event according to this bj, err, PR piece

But, ya, impressive. Keep in mind he has factory support and a top level co-driver at his disposal and his testing has been focused at that level of competition. Beyond that, he has the 'sports psychology' bit down from F1.

Yup, makes not crashing out on day one a bigger hurdle for sure.

How many times do we (collectively) take people to task for saying 'if I hadn't had that problem we'd have finished on the podium.' This isn't any different.
