I asked MSD they say it can't be, but I have seen a Mitsu running with it so WTF ?? Cheers M.Samli Phoenix AZ Gaylant VR4 EVO III GSR (Stolen) Rallies are no place for traitors |

Are you positive it was the 8728 part and that everything else on that car was the same as yours? Mike Hymbaugh "Converted" drag racer ![]() Castle Rock, CO http://www.four-banger.net/first.html |

Well it is AC Delco labeled with part #10037379 which cross references to PN8728.
The Mitsu I have seen had the stock coil setup so it was not one of those MSD ignition jobbies. It did say "Soft Touch". Again I am reluctant to try anything that says Soft Touch on it, especially on my Galant. The built in rev limiter is inop so I need something to keep me from revving over 6300. Even the 690cc injectors are jumping up to 98% duty cycle at like 6250 rpm, basically i am running out of injectors in a hurry. What about OMEX rev limiters?

If you're still running the factory ECU, Jeff (Keydiver) will burn a custom chip for your Galant for free, set the rev-limit wherever you'd like it. You can find him on the Galant board http://www.galantvr4.org or on his business site http://www.dsmchips.com. Cheers, Ted Pure mathematics is the enemy of every truly creative man -- Sir Alec |

The whole point behind me looking for a rev limiter is to avoid fuel starvation I get in high rpms. I already destroyed enough engines and I don't have the slightest intention to destroy this one. Fuel Cut = Disaster + Mo Money Down The Drain. As a matter of fact my car even had a Fuel Cut Defencer at one point to make sure there was always an ample supply of fuel. Mack and Mustafa- You cann't have a lean condition with NO FUEL. Think about it, how can you get detonation with an AFR of 14 to 0? You have to have some fuel to create a lean condition. Whereas with spark cut you may have fuel but no ignition ( and plenty of heat in a turbocharged app.) = detonation = BAD. This is pretty well reseached by the OEMs. All OEM have fuel cut on decel, but how many cars do you hear of blowing up from this? Zero.

Scott if the air & fuel are delivered to the exhaust unburned one *could have plenty of excitement in the exhaust to keep things on the boil when engine speeds drop back to where they should be...

Here is the problem with Keydiver chips, they are mostly street oriented and heavily rely on the stock ecu, also against common belief they are a far cry from being perfect. We already broke the code to the Mitsu ECU like Keydiver did and we can load completely customised maps/functions on chips. We already burned a bunch of EPROMs with our parametres, including the rev limiter. They work on other cars that don't have harnesses bastardised by the Russians but not on mine. Until I replace the whole harness i will not be able to see what signal i am missing coming in to the ECU. It is crazy, ECU gets the RPM reading, OBD sends out the real time RPM value signal to logger, tach doesn't work, rev limiter doesn't work. Which brings us to my need for an external rev limiter and an external tach.
