well, that's a damn good idea. Here's a cell phone pic that has nothing to do with the new car, but let's just say that gasoline is not the way to remove the tar residue in the floor pans.

Ya that is how I want to shop for a rally car, a sort button for Ohlins or Proflex... who cares about the shit box I am driving as long as it has something cool like Ohlins installed into a rusting strut tower with 3 stripped mounting nuts?

I always pegged you more as the type to pick whatever was cool at the time. GTX, VW Golf, now you just need a new Evo or STI. smiling smiley Just kidding.
Local shop did the cage in this about 1.5 years ago. We helped out here and there (I actually found the Ohlins for the previous owner) with the car. But previous owner got married, engineering job, relocated to the dirty south, and has lost interest in finishing the car and needed to get it out of his in-laws garage. It was one of those deals you just can't pass up. Kinda like that Talon that was on here a while back, but much, much nicer and nearly new.

I am a total tight wad so I got the GTX and VW about 5 to 10 years after the cool kids moved on. I might consider an Evo IV since the cool kids are on Evo X's but a STI is still about 5 years too new for me. winking smiley

Glad you have a sweet deal, something for me to come rent when I travel out that way...

You still need to hook up with my buddy Nick in your town, he makes very fine drinks in his still. Mmmmm sipping a little shine after using it to remove the tar under coating - priceless.

You car has an EJ22T also? smiling smiley

Needs a little bit of wiring work, mostly for lights, then plumbing for intercooler, exhaust from downpipe back finished, and obviously the exterior painted to be driveable. But has lightweight flywheel and six puck clutch, swap complete, 4.11 trans and diff, skidplates, and as I said, Ohlins rally dampers. I've gone over to the darkside, partly.

I have this cool idea where we build two Open Light Subarus, and then do as many events as possible. But the part that makes it cool is that you drive the car to the event and the only spares and tools you bring are carried in the rally car at all times.

That would be cool. The car I Co-Drive in has only been on the trailer once in 8 events. It needed a tow home from the last one (trans let go). I always liked sitting in the car knowing that the driver planned to drive it home.

It had an ej22t. Fantastic motor. OEM spec with 250000 highly abusive kilometers on it.

Yeah. I codrove in Mark's car, which is pretty much same spec but with DMS's in 2006 and we drove to the event. Really wished we had snow tires and defroster coming over Rabbit Ears pass in a snow storm at night.
My thought was two cars, both with hitch's. If one needs towed back, you pull it with the other (requires fixing enough to be able to roll though.

Also makes it easier to store at John or Gene's place when the car gets driven out to Washington.
