![]() we had fun! great event...great roads. Sorry to hear some of the negatives from workers/spectators...but it was cool to have so many people along the roads. this was the maiden voyage for this RalliArt lancer, and same for me co-driving with Lars, so we were pretty slow. Lars also rolled at this event last year in an EVO 9, so he had his own personal stuff to deal with. The car did well, no close calls which was nice, but needs some work/improvement in certain areas if its ever going to be competitive in the SP class. This quote: And > weirdly, the crash was kinda cool. is why I think the name Dave Clark The Lesser should be replaced by Dave Clark MkII. Someone asked me which one was Dave and I told them he was the guy who was always grinning, They said oh yeah, I saw that guy. He's my favorite person to run into at tech. |

In my power challenged celica, unless I'm already coming in hot, I never lift for 5's. I didn't realize just how slick the stage had become. My tail got way loose on a left 5 and before I got it back in line I was over the crown of the road and sliding towards the opposite dirt wall. I had time to dramatically yell "We're goin in!" just before we hit. The front end dug in hard and bent the subframe a bit. Knocked both of the left tires off their beads. We ended up being able to back out of the ditch and drive it with 2 flats 3 miles off stage. Ruined the front rim. Happy to have belts and, despite my previous opinions, the HANS. I haven't rallied long enough to figure out my driving style. Hope I'm not the "win or crash" type ![]() Never had more fun. |

I was codriving for Dave Clark and was having a blast until I heard the imfamous "We're going in!" I still had fun after that BS'ing with the other teams that DNF'd and talking to some of the fast guys when they came in after there final service. We went out on Brooklyn on sunday too which was cool to see how the really fast guys did it. After the first stage we were waiting to go into service and the Hansons were stopped right beside us waiting to leave. I jokingly yelled "I think we're beating you" which got a good chuckle from them. Then I asked them what they got and they said a time that was 50 seconds faster then ours. I then yelled "maybe not" which got another good laugh. Also watching Alkun run into the back of Dave in the tech line was pretty funny. Dave was going to get you back waiting to leave park expose but he was worried his bumper might go over yours and screw up your car too bad.
Anyway it was great to hear Dave is going to fix the car and I was really happy that he asked me to ride with him again. See you guys at OT! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/30/2010 07:27AM by shiza. |

Here is my report finally.
Mighty volvo #104 was running like a top, new K cam bumping up the power to a whopping 110Hp, got through tech with minor wire wiggling. Second run of Wreck Creek included pushing off a corner (seen in video), then in Teholah E1 overcooked coming out of the chicane WHAM into tree, Followed by ploughing through berm on the greasy "you'll need a Crane to get out Creek". I didn't hear the "into 4" part of the instruction on a L6 into 4 early on Teholah W, resulting in sliding into a giant ditch. Special thanks to the sweepers for getting us out and on our way. Then the fun one; the hood pins pulled through the core support and the hood flipped up at high speed near the end of Teholah. Note to self; bigger washers next time. Sunday started with the car failing to start when it was time to go at MTC. We pushed though on our minute and fussed around for 10 very long minutes until we found a connector that got bumped loose. The rest was a cake walk. Don is the King of Calm. Here is the damages; Hood, core support, one turn signal, and both front A-arms are buckling; one front wheel has 10 degrees neg. camber, the other has pos. camber! Like the old ad said, "you can hurt a volvo, but you can't hurt it much!" Much thanks to all who put on this event. |

Well I'm doing my damndest to get more out there. I have a deal with a guy in BC to swap one of my Cossie AWD trannies for a Borg Warner T5 so that means my AWD cossie is gonna get converted back to rwd. I've always said the F in our Group F stands for the future, and if the sports going grow we have to get back to the future... just now I'm just up getting a cup of tea then its down and start assembling a nice 2350cc 16v Volvo motor for a new guy from Nebraska who's doing a good spec 240 Volvo. We're trying to talk sense into Ben in Utah to forget obscure cars he can't find any parts for like 140 Volvo, and just get a damn 240 and put some round lights in it so it is just plain and not FUGLY like the later ones with too much chrome and 2 portable TVs for headlights.... Not-quite-signed-up-yet Andreiy from Toronto via Ukranine is ready to do an Xratty. Dave Kern in Colorado, Grant Hughes' friend has sent me samples of the front struts (with maybe 4" travel!!) and the hub with a pxy solid disc to make suspension and a brake that's worth shit for his BMW. > > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember!
