The part that people are claiming finishing on the podium for the national but yet midpack when you factor in the regional results.

+1 on the Suburban. 2000 1/2 ton w/ 260,000 miles on it now. Just hauled a huge pile of Volvo up from Wichita, about 12.5 mpg.

Yeah Adam....and anyone who has had the misfortune of servicing with me in my former life will tell you, I tend to bring 2 tons of shit to every rally...although I usually leave that "one thing" we needed at home.

Anyway, I used to have an old Vandura boxvan. It was wobbly, leaky, smelled funny, had a self-ventilating oil pan, never-ever got more than 9mpg...and I fucking loved it.

Work bench - check.
huuuuge stack o tires - check
Cavernous grandma's attic to chuck everything that didn't have a home - check

For some reason there are several ex uhaul deals around...one is a 454 gas 12ft box. Once the deal is done and whatever that's broken is fixed it would be a $2000 truck. I know it would suck gas...but it would definately tow!

Mike, I think yer old box truck is still sitting on the side of the road in Surrey.
Time to return to the scene of the crime?
Offer to haul it away?
;-)

Why doesn't anyone like church vans?

Rent...Rent...Rent.....

I ran the numbers for the number of events that I would do in a good year (4 events). The rental cost of a van was less than the annual cost of ownership of a van (taxes, registration, insurance, oil changes).

Bonus....you always get something newish.
you never have to do any maintenance on it.
you don't have to figure out where to store it the rest of the time.
you can change your vehicle selection to fit the needs of the specific event.

We can probably work something out for NEFR if Capital Car Auction doesn't come through.

Here's a real Tedneck Night of Horror's support vehicle.

Tell Suzanne it was my idea. She'll be dying to go for a ride!

Can I run course opening in it? How about Fast Sweep?
