STPR NEWS?
June 04, 2010 01:48PM
Hey, no news on the (we're killing off forest) Rally (in) America website.
Nothing on SS.com
I'm at work.
What's the scoop?
Will Ken be consistent?
Will the sneaky Canadians and New Englanders grab more championship points?
Will the rangers and the drunks finally settle things for good out in the woods?

SOUND OFF, MALCONTENTS (or anyone)!

Rumor has in on Facebook (from a rally photog turned Yuengling smuggler) that Antoine was up 13s on the first stage.

R-A site is showing results.

After Stage 3, it's Block, Bacon, Le'Stage, & Mirra. Looks like Block is taking a pretty commanding lead (27 sec over Bacon).

Block is the fastest guy competing these days. He usually either wrecks, breaks, or wins in US events. He is the most fun to watch by far, but he also is by far the most committed.

Interesting... the times on the R-A site seemed to have been changed since I last looked.

Still Block, Bacon, Lestage, Mirra, but not so big a gap anymore. Bacon down by less than 10 seconds and both he and Lestage took a couple of seconds out of BLock's lead on the 4th stage.

Somebody who can explain simple things more patiently to stuck in therir ways Rally America please explain that year after year their results SUCK GREAT BIG DISGUSTING CAWKS..

Explain to the the for the last 30 years at least the normal way that every rally everywhere from Austalian to Soviet Union and every in between displays 2 colums the first being STAGE TIMES from first thru last, the second colum show results THRU whatevr stage it was....

IS THAT TOOO GAWDDAM HARD? Or are they just trying to confuse people by cooking up an unexplained, stupid, moronic, dumb ass, only use it cause they've dug the heels in and dare never be shown to flinch ATTITUDE...

Or, are they actually dumb???

FUCK what a shitty web site and shitty results presentation...

No wonder the sport is shrivelling...

Yeah, our sport IS shriveling, only 17 cars in the National event at the end of the short day 1. I can remember starting 72nd there in the '90s.

RA's website scoring does suck and yeah that's what I meant by consistent. I'll eat my DC Shoe hat if Block wins it ;-)

Geez what a bunch of grumpy Gus's.....didn't the sport survive decade with results being mailed a month after the event?

Collecting scores at the end of a stage and transferring those to scoring can be quite a task. At RA events that is done by local organizers and volunteers. Sometimes there is radio or cell coverage, sometimes not. Sometimes you have to wait for sweep to come thru and collect all the score logs and transfer them. Scoring an event is a hectic job. That's the way it is.

Yes there is a quicker system used at some events but that costs a lot of time, manpower and dollars. That system costs are added to the event costs..you know entry fees. I'm not sure I understand the entitlement of keyboard ralliest to instant gratification, especially at competitor expense.

Our sport survives on volunteer help. No on a keyboard has a legitimate right to expect or demand professional results from them. We always find out who won at the end of the day, and that is after every timecard is hand scored and reviewed. I've helped with that job and it ain't no fun either.

Use the downtime to get a beer, bang the old lady or , heaven forbid, go work on a rally car.

Gene, it's CHOICE to display the format they display..

And yeah we survived for decades with mailed results---Dick Furhman who used to live in Spokane sent me a copy of Olympus 1986recently so I got my results---20 years late...and I survived

But on Page one it's SS1, next page Positions THRU SS1, then next page SS2 times, and lo and behold next page is THRU SS 2.

It's a question of showing---whatever they can scrape together, however it happens---the results in a format that has evolved in a CLEAR METHOD for following the ever changing OVERALL results as each SS result comes in...

Gene, I'm assuming you seem Jean-George Marcotte's scoring?
Or http://www.vysledky-rally.cz/vysledky/?rz=345&filtr=

That's a format querstion, and that's a choice arrived at question, not a "resource" or volunteer question.
They have "decided" to show the results in a STUPID manner.

John is perfectly right. RA has CHOSEN to display their scores the way they do.
Their 'old' site displayed the stage scores and overall scores on a single page, much like the JG Marcotte or the WRC, or Dennis Wende and Ryan Matthews' program used in BC.

This means that RA made a conscious decision to display the scores like they do - and they probably have their reasons. Among those reasons could be accessibility. Newbies might have issues with 'getting' the combined formats until they spend some time digging into the information presented (seen it happen in real life.)
