Nobody gets approved unless someone emails me and I manually go and activate the new account.

Another reason auto-approval is turned off is because spam-bots sign up (tens of thousands of them) on this site. There is a lot of crap going on behind the scenes that you guys don't need to see.

It's actually more work for me tweaking this existing site. I already run 5 sites on the content-platform I've written for the Miata site I linked above. All of the requested enhancements would come with moving this site to my AutoShrine platform.

> Who is footing the bill for this place?

Me.

So I get the impression this crowd doesn't like the idea of change.
I'll think it over. This is a dictatorship btw =)

I'd like to hotlink photos.

I wouldn't mind if it switched to V-Bulletin.

Well thanks for letting us have a place to play.

We had huge issues with porn and spammers on the NASA site until Anders closed it. It was hell looking at all that porn before I banned their accounts...smiling smiley

Unless it's a royal pain to keep this going for you as is AND there won't be any problems moving the data here over there. If the new platform works better for you...well it is your sandbox.

That said, I do like how this setup is simple to use.

I've had a few beers and can't remember the original questions, but
I think it is pretty much ok as-is, and
it's really great to have an alternative to SS.com and it's pretty user friendly
for old guys like me.

I have given up on rallying in the US, but still check out this site for entertainment!

Thanks Skye!

Don't touch a thing. But if it becomes too much of a hassle to deal with emails from new sign ups, maybe delegate it to another person?

And yeah, if you need funding to pay for the site, just ask.
