Could you be interested in a Soooper Bitchin Lower control arm

This is what I've wanted to snag so I can see about making these as sorta a universal part so we know that it is dimesionally proven at far higher loading than any of us will subject it to.

Hmmmmmmmm, Xratties, Volvos, VWs, GTX, Corolla, Fucuses hmmmmmmmmmm
Now if we make em in a big enough production run.......

Oh Timmmieee Taylor! where are you????

Sweet talk Kevin into making a SW model or ship one down to measure when you get them. Be warned...there is no amount of money that will get me to anodize parts that gawdawful '90 purple color tongue sticking out smiley

Oh my god John. Dare I ask how much money you spent on those ridiculous things?
Are the gravel ones green too. So what use does a purple arm even serve?

Just kidding. Get on it.

Some questions that I'll no doubt get flamed for...

1) How many people are actually bending control arms?

2) Of those people how many had boxed their control arms? Would boxing the control arms do the same thing?

3) Would the final price of these actually warrant their purchase if 30 minutes worth of fabrication could box a control arm, add little weight (its not even unsprung weight... it's inboard of the strut....) and solve the problem?

4) How can you have a universal arm when sway bar mounts are in different locations? Or is everyone willing to forgo the ability to use a sway bar when they want/need to?

5) What about radius rod vs however else control arms are located, how will these attachment points be universal?

Just a few thought's I have on these. Flame away, although, try to answer if you remember how to.

Explain how you'd box this...

Does that answer you question?

I want a set for my Escort. I gather that it'll be adjustable, by the look of it.

Answer: The purpose isn't just strength. It's also adjustability. Ability to change camber and caster on the front of cars that aren't able to stock.
Oh, and sway bars are for pussies. But for those that must have them, they have to be one of the easiest things to fabricate a circle track one to work.

I can tell you right now that with almost no ingenuity a full Merkur front upright along with a set of adjustable control arms could easily be used on a Toyota Starlet (and thus probably a Corolla and most other RWD Toyotas) for an easy upgrade to affordable bigger brakes and better strut options. Not to mention the ability to get stronger and better uprights with bigger bearings. Oh yeah, you do have to flip sides so a Merkur front right goes on the front left of the Starlet. Combine that with a Celica Supra or Toyota truck rear axle and Tim's Hayabusa setup and you have one of the most wicked fun rally cars in the USA.

You maybe should point out the integral nature of the ball-joint, that pound a little slop into that ball-joint and you get to shit can the whole arm.
So how about boxing ......

Oh, don't worry John, I'm with the program. After all, these are my front control arms...

So yes, I'd like to see a stronger TCA than I have right now, oh, here's the car...

Just your typical 2400lb 300hp/tq 302 with a T5, and a 3.70:1 9" rear end...

That's useless for me, why would I want to build a subframe just to use something like that??
