Gorman doesn't count. It's designed to be a car destroyer.

Have you BEEN to Gorman?

Cuz I just got back from running it - and the only damage was two broken skidplate bolts from me being stupid and launching the car way too fast off a Big Jump.

Alex just got back, and as he just said, all of his damage was self-induced as well.

It's the most yuropeen rally we have here in the states. Very narrow roads - makes middle cog look like a highway, and breeze basin look like the frickin' salt flats. The only thing really car-breaking about it is that it's VERY unforgiving to sloppy driving.

Nope. Never been. My judgement is based on what I've heard from others and watching video.
But it's been a year I think to myself, maybe it's different. Maybe the opinions I've heard have been from nancy rallyists. Okay, so I go to specialstage to find some in-car.
Watched this video.

Okay, looks fun at least from that stage.

Gorman conditions change: the last 2 years it has been much better than the past. Last time I ran it, 2 years ago, you had to hate your car in certain sections(I did win the roughest stage overall in a 2WD Sentra but other people made mistakes). The variable is that the stage roads are used by ATVs and motorcycles and as a result there are sometimes strange and deep ruts, large amplitude washboard and whoop-de-doos to deal with. It all depends on when the roads get graded, the Park' s budget and how hard the winter rains were.

I much rather spend my money running North NV.

I would rather you spent your money running NNR too! smiling smiley And I hope we can figure out some way to get Grant and others to come out for the three-event combo of NNR/Mendo/Idaho for next year.

On the whole Gorman was really good this year, much smoother than, say, Graham's Pass.

I've spoken to a couple of guys who loved the whole Idaho thing but cannot afford to return, simply too expensive starting with ENTRY FEE...
Such a shame.

Yeah, I know. One of the reasons I didn't enter it myself. I have nothing to do with the organizing of that event, but I can relay that.

NNR will continue to be as cheap as we can make it, and I suspect Jim will try to make Mendocino as cheap as he can too since he's a budget rallyist like the rest of us.

These're better. Keith Jackson's in-car:

Stage 1

Stage 4

Stage 5

Stage 10

Stage 14

Looking at those, it's rougher than I remembered, but not too bad. I'm running on what can be considered a junior version of Green Meanies (modified Bilsteins) and didn't really notice the rough all that much.

Why haven't we upgraded what you have yet?
Like what I've done for 3-4 other guys?

Cuz the car's a CRS P-Stock car that I campaign in G2 when I'm not running CRS events, and in P-Stock I have to keep the stock mounting locations and to really do it right I should put in tower extensions and run Subaru top-hats.

Also, because you paint them that hideous green.

You don't have to do extensions.
And the STRUT Mount, being part of the STRUT and therefore the SUSPENSION,
OUGHT! if anybody can read for nuthin already down there in California, if they have time between working on their tans and oiling up their neighbor on the beach' muscles and a buncha other mishygass, ought to come under the paragraph of suspension--which is FREE.

And the colors, what can I say? I can't tell you how many people have said sumpin like

"Gawddamn Mang, you make that gawddamn Kasawaki Green look gooood!"

And I haz to agree!
