one of these days I want to do the Oregon 500 (or whatever it's called) 500 miles in a $500 car TSD, usually a 2 day event (or is it 500km, whatever)

I'd like to that as well, and I have a $300 car I bought 7 years ago, that still runs...
and you haven't put more than $200 into it?

Not yet, I ordered a clutch for it 3 or so years ago, ~$135, haven't installed it yet,
I've just been moving it around the yard, 1st and Reverse are okay, second gear
slips enough that it won't accelerate at all...

from what I understand, you can put as much money into the car once the event starts, but have to keep it to $500 total and under until then

so, if there's really easy stuff you can do en route, do the tough stuff first

Needs a tune up, and a set of tires, I can scrounge up a set of tires, nobody runs
13" wheels anymore, so should be able to find a set on craigslist...

pretty sure they do it around april, I get an email, but I haven't had a chance to run it yet, even with an under $500 car available

Lemme know, it'd be a nice little get-a-way for SWMBO and I...

Apparently the Lemons guys originally wanted their series to be more of long distance TSD events initially.

It WAS a TSD for years, the Double 500. 500 Kilometers, $500 car.

Wanna freshen up the bottom end?
It's cheaper than you think.
