The IMCA dirt modified guys have a rule where anyone can buy your engine for $525 to penalize people who have way too big of a budget for their engine -Jason |

Hopefully this will force both DMS and Team Dynamics to improve their customer service. I'm still waiting for a set of TD Pro Race 2 I ordered 10 months ago for my Spec Miata.
I'll be interested to find out what the weight of a built SF car is. They're about 2800lbs stock, right? Self-righteous douche canoe |

It is based on the price of a crate engine or something. Anyhoo...I still think the diff and suspension thing are kinda bogus. If you are gona open the trans then do it right. Sorry but I just don't think the rules were thought out very well and the choosing of obscure / expensive suppliers like the New Zealand seats harnesses whose USA import6er seems a bit sketchy at best seems like decisions from "marketeers" rather than anybody with comprtition or even Promotion of motorsports in the background.
I did a Google search of the street address of the Team Dynamics address and I get a whole bunch of hits for the same place and same principal. Must have a lot of balls in the air at one time, or something. Try it and you'll see. Just seems sketchy. And it simply makes no sense to choose not one relatively obscure motor, there are'nt really scads and scads of 16 Zetecs really, but two fucking obscure ones, cause there are even less of the silly doo-dad bedecked "SVO" Zetec, and fuck if I know when the stopped making them but I do know that Ford and Mazda have stated that the Duratc is where they will be focusing their production AND motorsport activities. No the whole thing sounds lke it was cooked up by somebody who deals in "theoreticals", thinks they are smart, and who makes a lot more money than the average person doing 2wd cars, and who really hasn't driven much except maybe in stockish low powered shit ----or they would have had a stronger spec and shorter gearing in a car this heavy. I won't respond to most of your post John but I do know that their is plan to allow the Durotec motor to be used in the future. The durotec is allowed in the spec focus road racing series. Apparantly the issue is that the durotec does not like the CAT after it has been modified. I would also expect that the rally spec focus rules will be refined over time as all rule sets are. The posted rules/regulations are only for the 2006 year and I would expect some revisions for 2007. John I would think there could be a market in this for you to build optimized to the rules motors for people. How much for a maxed out motor and core charge? Also, with your skills/knowledge you could provide a great deal of advice on getting the suspension setup best with the limits of modification. The term 'spec class' means something a little different to many people. I wouldn't have made my ideas spec class exactly like this but I applaud the folks who put it together and actually got it done. If I went back to FWD, and lived near a NASA event I would do it in one of these cars.
Things might not be perfect but they have the ability to make improvements and I'm sure they will have their eye on things. Just figgered I'd give another opinion. |
