2010 and all the access to infor from around the world and people still saying crazy things like.....

but that's the problem....too much access to too much info. No matter what you say, there's always some guy that's going to find the exception and say, 'Yeah, but I know this guy that did XYZ differently and so my opinion is different than yours and you can't tell me any different.'

Its the whole 'arguing on the internet' thing. (and timm beautifully proved my point)

Yeah but that is the point Gene made earlier--in his own way "everybody is an expert" or as I call them ex-spurt.

That's why DETAILS as to WHY? sumpin is is so critical, why analysis must be rigorous, and reminders of where experience was gained and where "knowledge" was from, and there the intra-webs is full-o-fail.

But alas, everybody posts "the obvious what" and thinks its an explanation.

I think rwd has the ability to be much faster than fwd solely based on weight transfer....but you have to have people that DRIVE them HARD. Its all apples to oranges until you get drivers that come out and do work. John Lane knows how to do this.

Every right-thinking individual knows that the only proper drive configuration is the Little-Endian one. Big-Endian heretics should be banished.

That's it, I give up on my BMW and I'm going to get a fiesta. Anybody got $55k I can have? LOL

Saw the thread earlier today and still wondering how long its going to be until the resident statistician starts pulling results from Europe comparing Toni G's M3 to some high strung FWD cars. Of course the FWD lovers will probably poo poo the results since they're non-turbo.

Al has a special sort of intellect. In fact he can scarcely open his mouth without subtracting from the sum of human knowledge. The internet seems tailor made for such a perfect creature...

For what it's worth, recent is last 5 years, when your talking academic papers. So, all the accredited colleges and universities teach that when trying to find recent sources for backing up opinions and claims, its 5 years for recent information.

That is a false statement.
For one of the highest level of courses in Statistics I took, a PhD level longitudinal modeling course, we had no text book and everything was based on journal articles starting as far back as the 50s.
Now maybe if you're talking proteomics or genomics, yeah, it's all recent literature as was my other PhD level course in analysis of microarray and genomic data.

Wouldn't statistics be a bit of an exception? I don't know what longitudinal modeling is (and I'm not ashamed to admit that....) however I would think being in a stats course, you would NEED more then 5 years. Its just not a long enough change. It's "too recent." Obviously, there needs to be a relative scale.

Take personal computer use for example. There is no sense in going back to the 50s. Not even the early 80s. Recent IS the last 5 years. In general, the classes I was taking, general education classes, nothing specialized, when we were told use RECENT information, recent was 5 years. Not 50.

In fact, here is a definition of recent, http://www.thefreedictionary.com/recent

Please notice the "immediately before the present" part. 15 years is not exactly "immediately before the present" nor is it "modern or new." 1995 is 15 years ago. Look at all the automotive changes since then. A 1995 Volvo is not exactly a modern car. It's not really an OLD car, either, but its not modern anymore.
(for reference, we have a definition of modern http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/modern )

I think it's safe to say that in this context, 15 years is not exactly recent.

It's really not a matter of being a troll... its a matter of realistic time frames.

Oh, yeah i forgot! Gravel has changed so much and them all the recent discoveries of concepts like gravity and forces acting on bodies, Oh and we're ALL in new cars which defy all previous force, like allthese 1986-1988 Golves were just made last year, and Tennis' 1976 Saab is so different than it was in 1988, and gravity affects the 88 Sierras and 78 Volvos and 86 Corollas and everything else so differntly.....
HOW could i overlook such a obvious change?

Timmay needs to take some remedial basic reading course in the big University, like Reading and Comprehension 65.

If you would remember, the SUBJECT here is the word recent. Not gravel and not cars. I'm not sure why you keep expanding this into other areas.

Now I'm done because, A) you are not reading what I am typing- I'm talking about the word recent, you are trying to link that to changes in gravel... and cool smiley This will never go anywhere. You will insist I am retarded, and I will deem you an over opinionated old man with nothing better to do then attempt to harass a 21 year old into leaving a public internet forum.
