Lets get the cars out for some fun!

Why not get your rally car out and beat on it! There is a lap attack day at PGP Jan 9 2011. Sure there is no gravel, but everyone needs mad tarmac skills too. It is only $85, and we could have our own mini Rally class.

We could BBQ in the P-lot. We could hang out and stuff.

Here is the official info:

WhenSunday, Jan 9, 2011

DescriptionCompetitive Car Lapping to establish fastest lap time. Practice begins at 9am. 3 classes. FWD, AWD, RWD. Lowest total time wins.Top 3 finishers receive trophies. No passengers. Cost $85. $10 pit pass charge for spectators.

Lets run on used Gravel tires to keep it interesting.

Any takers?

I will match the JVL entry $20. Would be cool to see the Saab out there.

The format is:
15 minute sessions for course learning in each direction, then 4 flying laps in each direction.
If they finish early then open lapping till dusk.

They have lapping days on Wednesday, about 1-2 per month. 1 15 minute session per hour for 7 hours for $100

This view shows the dirt section used for the Olympus press day event.

"Tech" would be nothing falling off, and NO COOLANT! all coolant must be replaced with water.

Like I said, he needs to get to work!

No Coolant? Are we seriously going to drain our cooling systems and change over?

Antifreeze is a slippery bastard. Should you puke it out, they don't want a slick liquid all over the track...

This is a bad idea in the middle of winter!

On normal track days that PGP puts on, the cars are allowed to run with antifreeze. Why should this be any different?

Edit: I just checked PGP's website and I could not find any requirement prohibiting anti-freeze in the track days and lap attack sessions. Sean, who told you not to use coolant?

The drift events require no coolant, so I assumed that was for all events

Ok, now I get it, all those p.o.s. drift cars normally leak like hell! I will be there full of antifreeze.

That's true for wheel-to-wheel racing but not for HPDEs. And wheel-to-wheel racing organizations normally waive this requirement during the winter months, such as during the early season races in March.

But if you want to risk having the water in your engine freeze with the resulting cracked block or blown head gasket, then you go right ahead and drain all antifreeze out of YOUR engine. Just don't expect the rest of us to follow suit.
