$388 is about the price difference between non-thrashed V8 box and give-it-away worthless 4-cylinder truck boxes.

That comment leads me to believe you might have a give-it-away worthless 4-cylinder truck box? Perhaps a WC box out of an '92-'93 S10/S15?

No, but those are all I can find when I look for a GM T5 that isn't absurdly priced. (If a new one is $1300, $500-750 for a used one is absurd!) Most people bought automatic Camaros anyway. 4-cylinder boxes on the other hand... trip over them around here for $100-150 a pop because they're useless for most cars, shifter's in the wrong spot and seriously fragile.

Just look at the hilarious difference in costs----in the threads about "I want a dog box for my Subie or I'm gonna hold my breath till I turn Subie Blue" Where it was reported that swapping out a couple of gears during routine service cost what was it? $3800.

And for a T5 a complete gear kit costs $388
And a complete brand new box with the good gears about $1160-1250.*

*Gears suitable for a good turbo motor. (or a big high torque n.a.)

Wait, you can get a new straight cut dog gearset for a T-5 for $388? Awesome! Or are you just comparing apples to oranges?

Obviously not, but being realistic unlike those dreaming they "need" a straight cut dog box after they done like 4 events, or those saying "Not bad , I just swapped 2 gears and it was only $3000" (or whatever)

Gear kit with good ratios 1st thru 4th which is close ENOUGH for a turbo car---and a nice overdrive so tall that even with 4.56 final drive, you can cruise in 5th at less revs that the original street car with a 3.64 axle is what I'm referring to.

You know what we're talking here Dave, part of the "get real" deal.

Which was what was so good about the results Carl used to make with his Volvo since the build spec was really quite simple and modest, with mild motor and he just plain OPENED THE THROTTLE and did good results. REAL good results period and when you look at the spec and the cost of the cars all around him at the time---it was hilariously good results.
It was results that alert people could learn something from...

But back to daydreaming about ultra high HP spec n.a. motor that somebody decided they need in the car blah blah blah.

Yeah, but he started out driving blind rallies in Saabs in Sweden. That's an unfair advantage.
