French Peugeot 205 Kit car taking a BEATING

This guys is amazing fast... you know how it sometimes is kinda boring to look at onboard video because the sense of speed is somewhat dulled... that is not so on this video!

Very impressive. Particularly at 2:25 or so when he comes through the village.

Yep, he's fast.
But a wide-angle lens with the camera mounted closer to the windshield helps the perception of speed.

Who needs notes when you have the tire marks on light colored pavement? I would not want to be the first poor bastard to drive that road in anger in the first bit of rain after all them cars left all that rubber into the turns.

The video has been edited and is accelerated... on the faster sections its accelerated, and the starts are regular speed. You can see the vibration in the route book varies and how the helmets shake, etc etc.

I seriously can't see that. Yes it vibrates differently, but the speed and the bumps also varies. As for the helmet - well it doesn't look too unnatural for me.
The fact that he's bumping of the limiter for quite a while on a very winding road, tells me that he's quite fast.

Also try to Google his name - he's not a nobody... of course people can write what they want on the internet, but one hit has him listed as "Ragnotti Junior".

He's also 7th overall in the rally and did the 3rd time in the last stage according to the interview at the end of the video.

The announcer says that he's been invited to the "Cote de France" finals. Don't know exactly what it is, but I guess he must be good.

Watching the shifter and gear ups he is doing, he is either very fast or has 7.30 gears.....

It did say "205 Maxi" and gene, trust me, the Frenchies don't fawk around on home events. Domestic level stuff is a good goal and people tailor their cars.
Those stages are very typical French stages: up a ridge---run along then down to the finish.
Short gears and short tires.

Okay a couple of things.

1) Insanely short gearing. Really awesome.

2) This dude has a lot of seat time in that car, knows exactly how it is going to handle.

3) Has some good notes, and a good co-driver.

My face nearly fell off when he went through the chicane at 2:25.

Some of the motion, especially the co-driver looks a little sped up... not saying it is, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Great video though.

Just listen to the engine pitch, after you get to minute 2 go back to the start. It went from a 8k motor to at 12k motor. I think you guys are on to something.......

You can make out the rev counter from time to time. It looks like he normally shifts up at around 7200-7500 rpm, but the limiter doesn't kick in until around 8000 rpm. Thus the difference in pitch. At least thas what I think.

Well, really listen to it. Speeding up the movie wont make the gauge read higher, but after the 2 minute mark, the pitch after he shifts is higher than the pitch at redline in the beginning.

Best way is to watch, then re-wind and listen. sounds weird.
