Hey, I'm in your photos under insperation! Since I'm already inspiring you, here's my advice.
Stick in school... you've got the rest of you life to build a rally car. Like others have said if you take a break it will be tough to go back...
If you do build it I've probably run into all the problems you will encounter. I see someone else posted the link to the guy on "nico"... he's done a great job of documenting all the things you'll run into. He fucked up on suspension though :-)

Good luck.

-Martin.

I took a break from building a rally car. Ended up trading the shell for a case of Guinness Extra Stout. Houses and kids will do that to you.

Get a degree in something that can get you a decent paying job, don't cruise through school and get a journalism degree and figure out you don't want to do that anymore by your senior year.

Hey martin, 'member I was suggesting extending the towers in the back so you could get more travel? Whaddya think now?
You've done real good in class results and good overall, but reckon it could be better?
I say that cause I think a bit of time in modding the shell will be paid back over the mid term with more grip, better ride.

Hey John, as is often the case you were right. I extended the rear towers almost 3 years ago :-)
S14 won't need this though as the stock towers are already higher... so much so that you may have to make a spacer to use the B46-1103. Extending the front towers would be good idea!

Yes, had to mod the upright bottom mounts. I haven't modded the front towers. There's very little room, could probably find 1.5", more maybe, by removing some hood bracing. I run those adjustable ears that you hate so much. This allows me to run long tubes, real close to the lower control arm.. no drive shaft in the way :-) I set itr all up very carefully to get teh right ride height, wheel travel where I want it, with as much travel as possible.

haha thanks for all of the advice, guys. I already have a unique way to motivate myself. Now to figure out a major.

John - I should be taking the pictures today. Yesterday was also hectic. Had another interview and a bunch of other stuff. Sorry for the wait. Also, I will be running with different wheels than what I currently have....will this mess things up for the pictures? Should I get the wheels first (KMC Enduro 15x7 -6)?

Damn I think I ran into a stump here...I was looking at the RA 2001 rules and under insurance it requires a minimum of 100,000 liability...? Please tell me if I'm wrong. lol

One more thing I was just wondering...are the coilovers you make 'officially' called "Sooper Bitchin' " coilovers. lol. I just keep seeing that reference.

Don't mess with Texas is a great saying. I wish I could claim being from TX instead of MN. There are no cool bumperstickers about MN.

As far as the hydroplaning, you posted the damage photo and then this photo was next.

Last time I hydroplaned badly I was on "race slicks"smiling smiley

Oh haha those pictures were actually a year apart. Completely different tires, but I can see why you thought that. Although I did save it after being sideways at 70 on these driving back home from Waco, TX in the rain. Mutherfockin charter bus almost ran me over. Scary.

And the bumper sticker is a good idea and bad at the same time. lol. My car would be a laughing slaughter if I did that but I probably will after it's all rallied out now that you mention it.

Yeah man these cars are built to have fun with. Inside AND out. Slap crazy shit on the outside and give it a cool paint scheme.

And the 100,000 dollars ins. is the amount of liability your policy carries. Check your current limits, it's prob something like 25,000 or 50,000 if you are going for thecheapest like most of us. On my gieco policy it's easy to go online and bump it and only adds a few more bucks per month.

Also, I read some talk about dents and body damage being a tech inspection issue...don't know if it was sarcastic or not, lol, but I have some. Would these be an issue?

left rear quarter

right rear quarter

If dents were a problem with tech no car would be allowed to compete! Don't worry about it.

Once you have it gutted you should be able to smack those out too I bet.

I think that rule is in place just so cars are somewhat presentable.
