I love that the spectators have their own tow ropes and shovel!

http://www.jent.fi/aloitus/ takes you to the website of the company producing the videos, I was told.

In www.jent.fi you can select "Netti TV". In there are all the F-Cup and Finnish Historic Rally Trophy TV programs from rallies.

You probably have but they're just so plain jane looking that you just didn't notice it.

That said, they're not very common anymore and never were cause this is Amerikuh, so who wants a 1.3?

There were 2 or 3 here in the NW back in 86-87-88 and the 2 boys built them full of TRD stuff mainly thru Rallyanarchista member Topi Hynanen who was then in LA, and who I just spoke with a few months ago when he had just spent his first whole winter in Finland (somewhere near the Russian border) since 1980.

The other guy built a real loon-mobile with a pretty hot 4AGE and he was pretty gawddam fast in it. (Although I didn't then see the point of the smaller, shorter shell for our US fast roads, and still don't....) I mean if you're basically using Corolla everything, make life easier and build a Corolla, although I don't really see the point of Corollas with little motors as long as we have MORE and CHEAPER 2.3 engined 240s and Xratties which do fit our roads...and which can have have won overall pretty recently.

i have actually been on the hunt for a starlet since about 2006 (one of the few unusual fun 80s cars i havent owned...) I blame living in the rust belt.

i see more 242 volvos than merkurs though, but i did rather like the merkur. I will agree it was hands down awesome on the dirt.

Mazda just has the opportunity to pay contingency...

Yeah but I look at contingencies as something contingent.
Contingent upon using a product that may carry with it certain drawbacks with regards to how the car works, so you have sumpin not very good maybe but get paid a tiny bit for suffering...

Kinda like pre '78 when Japanese bikes were really crap in suspension, power, handling, and above all durability (in wheels, frames, suspension) in moto-cross.
Some guys rode 'em cause they were cheap and shops would give a 30% discount on parts.
I rode Husqvarna or KTM, both less than a year away from World's Champignonskit bikes, especially KTM (maybe 3 months behind their works bikes and they'd send out flyers with mods you could do---at least all over Europe they did, don't know about USA cause i wasn't here).

Almost never had any faults not my sloppy service related, like 100 events with 2 broken chains and 2 flats, my fault.

My friends broke piles of hubs, wheels, bars shocks, levers, exhausts, pistons, rods, swing arms, swing arm bearings (fiberglass believe it or not)
I rode 2 times a week for HOURS and raced one or 2 time on the weekend.

They DNF, lost hours and hours and hours and hours of riding time and wrenched on the bike constantly.... and spent a lot of money.
That 30% discount cost them a lot over just getting good solid equipment and riding MORE...

Then came the 78 CR250 Honda and history changed..

On a similar note:
We all need to "ride" more.

If you only spent 2 hours a year playing "Hide the zucchini" with your main squeeze, you think you'll ever get good?

But for our roads, there's no advantage to either of those. Always think: what is the advantage for this one? (versus another car)

Well we don't have enough entries in 2wd to have a 1.3 class and a 1.6 class and a 2,0 class and over 2,0.
So what's the advantage of---on our very straight and fast roads to have a little motor in a little car?

While for less money (for a give SS speed) we have plentiful longer, more stable at high speed, cheaper to mod, 2300s and many with turbos (so you have more torque than you need STOCK).
