If by some miracle I can find the money to do this... What might someone from Texas need to know about for this event?

I will know soon if I can pull it together.

There is lots of camping close by. The stages are epic. Run under RA rules. I would guess close to 60 car field. Entry for the Regional is $599, notes are $165.

The stages are epic.
Brooklyn is brilliant
Crane Creek is brilliant and challenging
Taholah is quite out of character with the rest of the rally and seriously favors high power / high speed cars. Too bad it makes up 40 miles of the event!

All in all well worth the time and effort to do this event.

If you want to buy tires out west i can always pick them up and store them for you.

Sean last year crane creek was a muddy fun mess

Thanks Billy! Thinking right now that we may actually be set on tires for the season. Since the Evo isn't likely to see any gravel, I've got a 8-12 BFGs that can get shifted onto BMW rims (mix of 195s and 215s), and I plan to run something different for the GRC event. Of course if I have room in the truck, it might be worth picking up some tires to bring home so I'll have fresh rubber for LSPR and avoid shipping costs.

Dropped the check in the mail this morning. Looking forward to this event!

I'm trying to figure out the best hotel to stay at, so I figured I would ask here. Any reccomendations? Priorities are:

1. Easy tow vehicle/trailer parking
2. Price
3. Comfortable beds
4. Close to grocery store / places to eat / etc...

We're coming up from Los Angeles, so this will be our first PNW event. Can't wait to drive all these roads I've heard so much about.

So where's everyone staying?

The host hotel or any of the others in the downtown core should be good that time of year. Ocean Shores is a combo of pretty large local community and very large tourist destination. The host hotel is close to the entrance of town, so anything on the northern end will be very close. Lots of restaurants and parking for the most part. SteveL prolly has the insider lowdown on this however.

We'll be at the Day's Inn. It was cheap.

After a bed bug scare on New Years eve I'm super apprehensive about hotels. And we've stayed in some grimy places. But from now on it's either a nice hotel or I'm camping.
We're camping in Ocean Shores. $20-25 per night and I know my sleeping bag and tent are bed bug free. smiling smiley
Probably get us a hotel room for Wednesday and/or Sunday nights since we get in late Wed night and since it's the end of the weekend and we'll be tired come Sunday and probabbly going to stay in Seattle those nights.

Yea, the 60 minutes thing makes me really apprehensive also. A couple years ago ACP booked us into some fleabag in Mt.Hood. Internet, the ads were quite misleading. We got there about 1AM. Lady running the place came out in an old, well worn cotton nite gown. She looked like crap, place smelled strongly of bleach, curtains wouldn't close, shower wouldn't drain. I had a room to myself, slept in my clothes....The missus was coming down the next nite. I told Andrew these rooms wouldn't work for her. He paid for a better room downtown, didn't need to as I gladly would have. But man that place was bad. I saw Forespring's room at Pomeroy and I wouldn't let my dog stay there (even if John wasn't there winking smiley )

Even nice hotels have bedbugs, dude. There are some very nice ones in Manhattan that were/are infested. There's no guarantee unfortunately.

Yeah, yeah. I've heard that. I don't think New York or any major metro population can really be used to assess the effect of bed bugs. Fact should be, major hotels make more efforts to make sure they do not than a dirty small local place. I've stayed in some serious flea bag hotels at rallies. Now I'm either going with a nicer hotel or I'm going to camp. I'm from Wyoming, I can handle some weather. We slept about fifty yards up a side road off Fir Mountain at OT in 09 and it was pretty awesome. Wake up leisurely at 9 am when the cars start coming through, instead of at 5 am in order to get through the ATC before anyone was there since we didn't have the magic vests.
