BTW, were there any missing nuts, washers, or bolts after the last time this came apart? Not being totally facetious......I've had that problem once upon a time...

...possibly found a FREE supposedly 98k miles KA24DE from a friend and all it needs is a timing chain. And I just bought a brand new OEM one. Score. Now to see if it really runs....

For the price of a pan gasket......................................
My memory-----slightly faded, but maybe not as faded as some----says that's a steel crank in there.
Steel is Strong---Mongo likes steel
But it doesn't hold oil the same way iron does.
I've been in the bottom of plenty of Saab 99/900 motors with 100-125k on them and seen first hints of copper on the upper rod bearings and lower main bearing shells.

For the price of a pan gasket-------

good call I will definitely try to check that out - whether it is steel or not. But I'm pretty sure it is, also. I know the ka24E crank is steel.

That was also a theory why it did what it did. However, I did not find any missing/misplaced parts. Also, there were no marks against any of the cylinder walls. We'll know for sure when I pull the pan...

Well I needed a quick fix so I went ahead and got another ka24de from a '93. Should be in within a couple weeks. Also, this gives me a motor to mess with until I get a different daily driver. According to the seller it has new rod bearings and 185 psi across the board. Also, emissions are already removed. Hopefully he aint lying.
