Would be kind of fun wrap it all the way around a hat...

It barely fits on the side window... and apparently that's only half of his official last name :-)

I entered my Viper GTS in the Targa Rally in Nakusp, BC. Inaugural event so only a days running and cheap to enter. Trevor Cameron (my co-driver) and I ran novice clasls and won that. We managed to get 2nd overall. No crashes and everyone had a great time. Event went well and they said to expect another in the fall. http://www.targacanadawest.com/targa-canada-west-ttr.html

Hope to do the Silver State classic (World's Fastest Road Rally) soon. Understand that 130mph is OK without a rollbar. Figure I'm good for 140mph with a 6 pt roll bar?

is Targa newfoundland the one in "love the beast" ?

If so , i thought it was a performance rally, not a tsd / target time rally? (guess not though reading this thread)

While I haven't actually seen "Love the Beast", I have to imagine you watched it with the sound off to confuse them.

Targa Newfoundland is in Newfoundland (which is in canadia). Eric Bana, as an aussie, was competing in some of the Targa events in his home neck of the woods. The accents aren't that similar IMO.

Nope I think it was Targa Tasmania. Either way Targa Newfoundland also has a tsd run after the performance section of the rally.

Love the Beast was Targa Tazmania.

Targa Newfoundland has the targa class and the touring class. My understanding is the touring is very much a tsd.

Targa class, on the other hand, is 'at speed' but not an all out 'fastest wins' like in stage rally but each class is given a target time to beat and you 'zero' the leg as long as you beat it. The times set are aggressive but one of the characteristics of a targa event is that the times get tougher to beat as the week goes on.

Targa Canada West, mentioned by Ted above, is growing to include a speed division and a tsd section but ran out of time in the uncharted process of dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s of the road closures. The event last weekend was a half day TSD on some enjoyable roads. Much more of a tour than a race but there were some fairly challenging checkpoints.

Many Targa events are looking at moving to a straight 'raw time' format where the fastest car wins. I think it might make it tough to keep the event competitive over several days of doing that.

watched that last night. Epic!

what's the entry fee?
what's a car rental in them parts?

would be totally awesome to do something like that , even just once.
