Targa Newfoundland on TSN
April 11, 2011 09:37AM
I suspect no one in the US gets TSN or TSN-2...

Apparently the show will make it to Speed eventually, and it also gets shown in Europe.

The first TSN showing was on Saturday, and for the first time ever we were part of the main story line, we got some awesone coverage. I got to say "beep me gently Veronica" as we crashed on International TV :-)

Here are the rest of the currently scheduled show times.

-Martin.

On TSN-1:
• Saturday April 9th at 11:30 am Eastern Time, 1:00pm Newfoundland Time
• Wednesday April 13th at 1:00 am Eastern Time, 2:30am Newfoundland Time
• Friday April 15th at 2:00 pm Eastern Time, 3:30pm Newfoundland Time

On TSN-2:
• Monday April 11th at 7:00 pm Eastern Time or 8:30pm Newfoundland Time
• Tuesday April 12th at 3:00 pm Eastern Time or 4:30pm Newfoundland Time
• Saturday April 23rd at 11:00pm Eastern Time or 12:30pm Newfoundland Time

I think the target times get closer and closer to maximum attack as the event goes on.

And there's a tire limit:

6.5.3 Tire Quantities (Targa Vehicles Only) A maximum of six (6) competition tires are permitted: four (4) tires fitted to the vehicle and up to two (2) spare competition tires.l

I'm sure "The tires were fookin' JOONK!" by the last day of the event....yeah, that's the ticket. grinning smiley

Very impressive drive, Martin! Would love to see you take another shot at it.

And you have my envy. A fitting choice of words never to be broadcasted again. that was some good coverage for a cool event, better luck next year.

I just went in way too hot, the rest is history.
My 3000lb + 240SX just doesn't corner like a lotus... I know that now :-)

Speeds get very tight on day 5, also now all modern cars have to run the same times for every stage, so we had to do the same as Porsche GT2/3/twin turbo for the whole event. We could barely get up to the 200km/h max speed so we had to make up for it by carrying more speed through the corners and taking a few more risks.

I really hope to do it again this year, but have to find sponsorship because I'm still paying for last year. I'm hoping to use this coverage to convince my work to sponsor us. We'll see what happens.

It was one hell of a fun event though... a bucket list must do for me.

Speaking of tires...
They changed the tire rule too for last year, min teradwear was 140 (I think). We Ran dunlop Dizzera Star spec's
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=Direzza+Sport+Z1+Star+Spec]Star Spec[/url] I loved them... and they lasted really well... i.e I could run the same tires again this year.

To raise money for this year, you should sell some FMGV Rally Team t-shirts. I get the first one at a discount for the idea! smileys with beer
