So, Idaho is allowing quads. Quads race in CHCA and at Pike's Peak.

So I'm like, okay, for $2500 I could get something that's wicked that I could rally with and go racing with, though it's way more dangerous, it could be pretty awesome.

those things are dangerous!

I had a friend once........ after breaking every bone in his body on one of those things he sold it, bought a sand rail equipped with a large cooler and cut off his mullet.

Wait, don't you have a rally car that you could go rally with?

Bah, dangerous. At least they have four wheel. Back in the day Mat Sweeney used to desert race those old three wheelers that they banned. You know the ones with no suspension?

But for rallying I think the quad you need is this one.

Four wheelers are for wimps!

I miss my old ATC 110...it wasn't fast, but it sure was fun! Mind you, deliberately leaning to the OUTSIDE peg to kick the tail out and make a turn completely ruined my ability to ride a motorcycle...which may not be a bad thing. For going flat out, I think you'd be better off with a bike, though, laying it down is usually less hazardous than getting smooshed by an ATV.

From time to time I contemplate getting a cheap 110 or 185s with a trailer hitch to use for hauling a garden cart around my back 2 acres.

Grant, get the XR4 back together!!!!

Brent bought a Polaris Outlaw a couple years ago. Fast and pretty affordable. Really handled well, independant rear suspension. Predators are a bit easier to find, solid axle. He went like a madman on it. If he still had it I'm sure we'd be looking at Idaho. You definitely will feel the thrill a lot more on a quad. Getting out of bed is dangerous and you're young enough to still be bulllet proof.

I'm new to this idea of quads and such competing in a rally. How do they do transits on roads open to the public? Or is Idaho just that cool...

If it's anything like Minnesota, they'll have quad/dirt bikes trails right next to the road!

I've generally found in many areas of life that if you have to ask if it is a bad idea, it usually is. The last time I went forward with something that initially seemed like a bad idea I broke my leg in three places.

The quads and UTV's will have to trailer the transit to and from town but will be allowed to drive/ride the transits between stages.

I had some reservations when the RallyMoto thing first started. We had a few bruises and lots of stories. As with guns, bungie cords or fireworks, people inject danger. Having watched my son burn up a few gravel roads on the Polaris I'm not as wary as before. Funny tho...they guy he sold it to has nearly killed himself several times.

Why did you tear apart a perfectly functioning rally car? Stop this nonsense and put your merkur back together. If you're set on buying a small vehicle with 4 wheels, get a kart - mine could be for sale - it'd be a perfect addition to the shop, you'll just need to gen new rear tires for the trikes.
