Yep. They were. Best finish was 5th in Argentina by Kenneth Eriksson, who scored points at 7 additional rounds. He finished 10th in driver's standings. The second driver Austrian Franz Wittman scored points in 3 rounds and 35th in Driver's championship. It was a Peugot/Lancia show all year though. Maybe VW's 1986 result will be comparable to Mini's success by being the 3rd highest placed manufacturer in the WRC in 2011! 
I doubt there will be any real effect on US rallying from this news though. |
