Andrew and the new Scion did pretty well this weekend. The few teething pains at Olympus must have been fixed. I guess you don't need big power and AWD , even in muddy, sloppy stages. Probably ought to be a few STi Subies feeling a bit embarassed.

good for them. That car cannot be that light either. He is such a good guy too. Met him for the first time while they were tugging our car back on the trail. As you did Gene, he gave me word of encouragement that mean a lot.

He remembered my god son's name, he's always got a big smile on his face, always nice, and helped us push Kovalik's car up on the trailer Friday night.

However, as for 2wd drivers, Henderson just seems to be getting faster and faster. 4th overall for 2 of the 3 regional events and 5 oa on another. I should look at the national and regional times to see how he was doing in comparison to the national 2wd cars.

Stage 5 he was 10 seconds off of ACP. stage stage 12 he was 50 seconds off, but ACP was at that point setting nearly top 5 national times.

Keep in mind this was the 2nd event for that car and for ACP in that car. They had problems at Olympus with the turbo connection and resultant burned wiring.

That Scion is a wee bit heavy at this point also. It is under developement. Car is actually bigger in person than I thought they were. His "crew' are people from all the participating companies and are a riot to work with. They hung out at the shop fixing the car Saturday nite at Olympus. Very efficient but quite easy to work with and they left the shop cleaner than when they got here.

Looked like it was a close battle. ACP and Wyatt were trading stage times back and forth. Dillon Van Way was right there for some too. 0.8 seperating them by stage 9. Wyatt was up to 6th overall, ACP 9th by end of 10, then they swapped and ACP was back ahead but by like 3.9 seconds after 13.

Those two were way ahead of the rest of the pack by then end though. It was close til stage 9 or so and then the rest of the pack just fell by the wayside. Close competition will do that. They were probably both driving at Maximum Attack trying to get the win. That's what racing should be about.

You guys should scrap one event. Get rid of Olympus. Have Oregon Trail be day PIR, day two Mt Hood, day three Doo Wops. The Dufur and Taholah stages are a waste of petrol in my opinion. If anyone can average over 65-70 the stage is too fast. The roads and permissions just don't seem to be there to host two national 2 day rallies. Focus on quality not quantity in my opinion.

Thanks for the comparison!!! wish we could have gotten our time back after a course worker stopped us on SS13, would have been VERY close to DVW #600, after the incident we drove mellow to the finish as we had a nice lead on the regional G2 group.

we should have some in car soon, check team's FB site here:

Huh? That makes no sense. They are two different and separate events with different organizers. Plus they are four hours away from each other.

That's all inconsequential to me. smiling smiley
Four hours? That's pretty short. The closest rally to us at all is >800 miles. Portland Thurdsay night, Hood River Friday night and everyone stays in Aberdeen or Ocean Shores Saturday night.

How many chicanes did it require to keep the average speed at 79.61 for Clausen and Summit II? Is it coincidental that there are six 79.61 average speeds with no tenths on the times or did they actually exceed those speeds?
Smith Creek W, Taholah require how many chicanes.

Sorry, this isn't probably a popular sentiment but if a stage has a high average speed and require chicanes it shouldn't be run. If it's something where there is a long straight that has to be used to connect to stages then a chicane can be appropriate but as a method to reduce the average speed to allow the stage to be ran? That just seems like opening a door for potential liability. I don't know if Smith Creek had chicanes but if they were there to keep the average speed below the 'standard' safe average speed there might be the potential for a legal case there. Dufur stages and ones like Rally Colorado stages where it's wide open and you're just going to Pastrana it and write off the car and become a national hero are not such a big deal. Stages with lots of trees on the other hand...

Its just too bad OT doesn't get to use those sweet roads around Tillamook anymore.

AGREED!

Tillamook and Vernonia were the best. Of course, then you get drivers who aren't from here whining about how they can't go as fast because the roads are too tight, twisty and technical. Then you also get all those drivers crashing out on on Saturday because they refuse to slow down and conform to the style of road their running.

Of course, it's too bad we no longer can use the old Olympus roads of old either. sad smiley

Plus 5000!!! When I dream about rallying it's on either Oregon Trail 2006 roads around Vernonia or the Ojibwe roads.
Merrillee. They aren't crashing because they refuse to slow down. They are crashing because they don't know how to drive a rally car and have always done well thanks to fancy diffs, large budgets for power, and a general lack of talent in the whole field. Point and press the pedal. The other pedal you either stand on most of the rally and talk about how your a bad ass LFBer or you press really early for a few seconds too long than back on the go pedal.
Wow. This is going to be one of those days...

Thanks, Jason Smith out east sent me the link, rookie move not knowing about RALLY ANARCHY!!

yeah, good drive for sure, had our issues, but the roads were killer as always, a little fast on a couple, the mud was unreal slippery but fun as hell, laughed a lot with my co-driver as he patiently reminded me about an upcoming R4, wait for it. . .
