Doubt it. Nothing ever is here in Colorado.

"Has some dings here and there, has 5th gear pop out, drivers side door latch needs repair, but still closes and locks, needs passenger side axle replaced (will include parts), axle seal leaked and the trans doesn't have much fluid, so the diff may be burned out, but still drives like an open diff car, struts need replacing, has driveable tires, needs some brake work, needs a new windshield"

So probably would need to dig into the box a bit. I seem to recall that there is actually some good diffs and ring and pinions out there for these cars. So we could build a box to be used on stage rallies and a stock box for Chump car stuff. 140 hp, 4 wheel disc, Macpherson struts, 2200 lbs stock, viscous LSD stock. Sounds like a decent candidate to me.

Viscous diff is marginal.
final drive is 4.08 so keep the tires under 60cm, not aware of any alternate final drives.
wheel bearings front and rear are supposedly weak under duress.
Motor just begging for more comp and some cams. That motor is Nissan answer to a YB. Very good.

But don't you have enough distractions and expensive toys?

I have one expensive toy and lots of distractions.
My one expensive toy is overwhelmingly needy to the point where I don't even touch it because it just overwhelms me. I also don't really have the expendable income to buy anything for it right now. Trying to finish paying off my taxes before the end of next month, plus have to find the money to film Max Attack NEFR since we generated zero revenue from Olympus this year.
I have to finish building my double barrel smoker, which should be done this week, before I can get cranking on the car. Pig roast birthday party is July 9th and want to get a few practice runs in with the smoker before then.

Thing is, there are three Chump/LeMons events within 100 miles and two more that are around 500 miles. That's alot more seat time and much less vacation time required than the two rallies that are 850 miles away (Idaho and 100AW)

EVENT UPDATE:

We are now having our first event at Portland International Raceway August 27 & 28! The track in Redmond was facing some challenges, and PIR stepped up and offered us a cool place to play. Check out all the event details at www.dirtcheaprally.com/events . We're also on the PIR home page, pretty cool!

i am very curious to see how this plays out. dust and rutting being the biggest factor. if you dont put any really tight hairpin turns on the dirt it shouldnt rut up too bad. anywhere where there is potential for full throttle full steering lock you will rut.

with the dust potential i am afraid it could turn into a series of sprints with mandatory cautions to water the course.

not trying to poke holes just curious about some things. i really think this has a lot of potential.
